I want a 103 inch 4K monitor to play EVE on. No make that two screens!

The new 4K sets from LG, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, and Toshiba show a level of detail you'd expect on a movie screen; their resolution equals that of professional cinema cameras, like the Red One. The detail is stunning, and viewers can comfortably sit close to the screen. Even from only a few inches away, it's impossible to discern a single pixel.

Problem is decoding and input data to this screen is very demanding. It will generate a new wave of upgrades on everything electronic.

Start with a netflix account it will require a band width 10 times faster than what the best we have today in order to download a movie designed to play on this set in real time speed.

Current console machines will have almost a two second delay in order to write to this screen. Not good for online console gaming as your screen delay will kill you. Need a faster console machine...upgrade cycle.

Current Blu ray decoders can not decode fast enough to fill this screen in real time in native resolution. Upgrade cycle required...also the storage media the blu ray dvd is too small to hold the data of a single movie. Need to improve the dvd compression ratio by a factor of 10 or so. Current HDMI cables too restrictive for the data transfer speed required. Need upgrade cycle.

This time it will be the hardware display that drives the next upgrade cycle, not the software.

I know you all want two of them!

Isn't there a 8k screen out now too. Just a prototype but it was at one of the electronics shows.

I remember linking that a while back, über impressive.

iirc it was a demonstration unit someone had setup and used eve to test it.

As for 4-8k teles, they use internal processing to scale the source material, so there are no issues with showing a 1080p signal from a ps3.

Panasonic have a 4k 151 inch plasma available, but only for the super rich.
