That's a nice surprise to see some french translation in EVE. I hope this will come true one day.
And if it's an error or some kind of joke, here the screens for the sake of our memories

Skills looks like a bit messy though. Would like to see texts without capitals

Note the "Mn" for minute, not in International System, but widely used by Frenchs and officialized since 1948.

Anyway, Good Job once again CCP.

They, long ago, did this and it was terrible. It just confuses every single french player (including myself) that have been playing for atleast 6 month. The language frontier keeps kids away from the game, and it's great this way. It's some kind of filter.

Adapt, or die.

Not sure to understand your "adapt or die" conclusion.

I'm just congratulating CCP for continuing EVE's localization.

I don't think Russians, Japaneses and Dutchs players are majority teens nowadays.

Moreover, i know this is a general thought that Kiddies come to games in their own langages but remember you learn English at 9' and EVE is not quite an easy game (plus PEGI 12+)

And if you can't join an alliance because of your mentality, then...you''l do some Lvl4 and stop.

No Raid 25 HardMode, no 'bind on Equip', no purple, no pokemon's pets, and especially no Pandas !
This is the filter you look for.

People who succeed in Eve, should play Eve, no matter their age.

Remember the daddy behind him/her could be Mittani. Lol

[joke]
Then your filter miserably failed the day Eve started in English with all US/GB fat kids in front of their computer training hard with sodas and chips to get some weight and bully on the internet Lol
[/joke]

You rule seems not working for Germany/Russia/Japan, it's probably because it's a very bad one.

De rien.

Confirming this guy is not representative of the french-speaking community.

Sure, for vets, having a native translation is a burden and they'd rather keep the english (which they can), but I think it improves the NPE. See what is happening with german and russian players.

Bonne soirée

This reminds me of the survey I had for the german - loca.

Localization should be scratched of the board. There is nothing good with it. Most ppl speak english. Communicating in different languages can be hard for some people allready, and it only gets worse with multiple languages (clients) involved.

I know french ppl are proud of their language, but rly, the last thing eve needs is another localization.

Don't get me wrong, the quality of localization is pretty good, it's just a useless feature.

This is so elitist and close minded ! Most people playing the game speak english, because the others cannot play, the game being in english !

Localisation is the best thing that can happen to french community. The only ones to disagree are bitter vet missing the "EVE at 2000 toons" era and selfish elitist who don't want to share their game.

It's easy : localisation => more people => better EVE
=> more french people => even better EVE for french people

Localisation only *add* to the game. Bitter vet and elitist will always be able to keep their game in english and join some elitist US alliance to stay away from their fellow...

Adapt or die work both ways...

More localization means more player added to the base, that can't be bad Smile
An BTW, you don't have to be a kid to be a jerk, eve is already full of it (yeah i'm already here, so nothing worse can happen to this game ^^)

I only came across this thread now, so not sure if this is still happening. If so, could you please confirm where you saw this? Which server? Which language was the client set to? Also, what is the language of your OS?

Also, unfortunately this is an error at this point. While French is certainly one of the languages we consider for potential future localization, the EVE client is currently not supposed to be in French. I am happy to see enthusiasm for it though Big smile

Oh serisously ?
Damn !
Consider youselves happy i'm posting more screens because if it's a bug, well, it's a good one Lol

If it's a Dev Mate which implemented this joke, like the one which introduced colors on this forum for CCP Punkturis some times ago as i was asking on the test forum thread, then the only punishment he deserves is to FINISH this job ! 'cuz it's quite well translated.

Anyway... (sad face)

System : Win7x64 ultimate french

If you do the translation someday, please do NOT translate the names and UI elements... or people won't understand each other.
BugraT WarheaD

It's translated in German, russian and Japanese, and these people don't seems to have problems to understand other people in other langages.

But it certainly a bug if you game is in french only in the title screen.

People *will* understand each others. Most people are actually able to learn two or more names for one thing ; they did it for warcraft 3 at least in my own experience.

I am reading indeed - thank you for the input, even though it is obviously a hypothetical discussion at this point.

@Meolyne - thank you for the additional information, I hope you won't be too sad to hear that we have fixed this defect internally already. Blink
