Good luck. Might I suggest a title for your book "if you give me 1million dollars I'll give you back 2 million dollers. A self help guide to getting rich"

EVE is a drug, you have an addictive personality, combine the two and this is the end result. Blaming the drug is a sign of a weak mind and a lack of self control, you must take equal blame at the very least. That said I wish you luck in your life away from EVE, hopefully your business and carnal exploits go well and you find some satisfaction in your chosen path.

But remember, like many drugs, EVE can be hard to give up. I should know.

Wow, dude you have some serious issues to deal with. You are right, you really need to quit Eve and go sort those issues out. Anyone who feels a video game is a job, a prison or anything else you talked about seriously needs to never EVER touch it ever again. Ever.

You are making the right choice for someone with your problems, take care and good luck with your life.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

Can't people just quit quietly? We don't need your story. Nobody's fault except your own if you can't handle your own gaming?

Can't you just stop posting and biomass? :)

To summarize I am leaving because:

1. I am tired of working a fake job for a fake company for fake pay when I could be working for my own company and making real money.

I can understand this. This is actually why a lot of people don't move around and why a lot of people don't mine. I pretty much stay in one system all the time and run lvl 4's. I would go pvp in low/null but I hate having to travel back and forth and I hate the 24hr jump clone limitation.

2. I want to do real world things and I no longer want a distraction from them. Write some books, further my long term goals, **** my hot wife into unconsciousness. Things like that.

No offense, but the fact that you're putting more time into the game over real life is no fault of the players or of CCP.
Now, as far as the banging out your hot wife. I don't care if I'm in a massive fleet battle in which I'm the lynch pin that is keeping us on top, if my wife comes up and is in the mood? Well, have fun popping an unpilotted ship and pod cause I'll be getting some.

3. I am sick of the jerks and the crybabies in no specific order. You know who you are. Again the good people will be missed (Akita T and my corp mates I am looking at you).

This I can agree with. I've gotten pretty fed up with baiters, gankers, and flippers myself in high sec. However, due to the fact that I mission in a tengu, don't salvage, and rarely mine, then I've pretty much reduced all interaction with other apart from corp mates and wardecs(which we seem to be starting lately to wipe out douche bags and macro miners)

4. Real time skill training. I think I can do this myself in the real world without the "privilege" of paying someone else to do so.

I agree but disagree. I agree that it can be annoying because it takes a good year at least to be established in eve unless you're mearly making an alt account to shoot stuff. On the other hand, I prefer that I don't have to constantly play Eve for days on end just to get a skill maxed out.

However, what you failed to realize is that isk is the leveling/gearing system of Eve.
In WoW and other games you grind for days on end to level up and get gear.
In Eve you grind for days on end to get isk to buy books, ships, and better modules.

Sure, you can level a character without ever playing, but you can't buy the books without playing, and you won't have any isk to actually buy a ship.

That said though, the plex system pisses me off a bit when it comes to this because those who have a daddy with a fat wallet can make billions in an hour.

5. Eve is not an escape, it is a prison designed to keep your inner potential restrained.

With this, it's an argument. It's a prison for some and a playground for others.

it mostly seems to be a prison for us bears, but still.

Now, as far as restraining our inner potential, well... It kinda has to in order to give everyone a fighting chance.
Sure, there are those out there who are much better at playing the game, but they can only do so much, thus allowing other a fair opportunity.

Now, where this becomes unfair is in case of say Goons and Test who constantly come into high sec and throw things out of balance just cause they can and do so without war decs and CCP does nothing about it.
i personally feel that if they do crap like this, then in a real sand box the faction to which the territory they're engaging in would proclaim them a threat and announce war on them, or at least allow faction warfare targets to engage them in their space.
But that's just me.

On a serious note though. if you do decide to start giving stuff away, please consider me. I'm too A.D.H.D. to figure out how to start earning good isk in Eve without grinding lvl 4s.

OP declares half of eve to be made up of childish idiots, then makes a huge attention-seeking post about leaving instead of doing it with some dignity.

Good luck to you nontheless, sir.

Eve is in your blood my friend, just as it is in all of ours. One night, you will be sitting there watching some boring programme on the tv, and you will close your eyes, and for a split second, you will see your ship gracefully sweeping round as it leaves the station and aligns for warp, and in your head you will be panning the camera around to get the best view.....At that point, you will seriously think about re-subbing just to see if it still has that magic, and it will. See you back soon Blink
