Leaving Eve after almost five years.

I never really understand the point of these threads, but all the best in the future OP.

Eve should not feel like a job, it should be fun. This is why I do not use alts of any kind, and reinforce to my corpmates that rl always comes first. I hate to use a meme like 'you are doing it wrong', but clearly you let Eve overtake too much of your life. I am married with kids and in my own business. Eve is for my leisure time since I do not watch much tv (amazing how bad something can be considering all the money involved). We have a great corp and it's lots of fun to play. I guess it's just a question of priorities and balance.

If you spent this much time writing such a lengthy post on the forums about you leaving, I can't imagine how long it takes you to do stuff in EVE....like Webvan said, time management

If you feel that this game will be eating your precious time, so be it, leave it.
I have some free time after all so i can still chill in my spaceship, not overworking my wirtual ass off.

Live long and prosper.

Hmmm, I wonder if you would be so critical of the skill training system if your decision had been to simply scale back on your play time, as the way it is you would still continue to progress without being over shadowed by the people that have more time to devote to their favorite hobby. Smile

If you are no longer having fun, this is the correct decision for you. I wish you much success. With luck you'll find an equally enjoyable hobby that doesn't take up so much of your time.

PS: When empty and in High Sec, autopilot. Blink

PPS: I assume you will be bio massing your characters?

Eve is a huge timesink. The game is designed to force you to either grind your time away, or buy PLEX. It's very clever. And can be very insidious.

Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round.

Wife - "Honey you wanna BJ"
Husband - "Well I shouldn't but heeey GO AHEAD HONEY"

Let me swap things around a little... He wants it but he doesn't want it.

Wife= Eve got a bit fat , frumpy and has stubble on her chin making a all together unsatisfactory BJ experience.

Been with her so long that he does not really want to hurt her feelings by saying no. (After all wimmin live for BJ'S!!!)

So the plan is to proclaim publicly "HONEY I'M A SCREAMING SHIRT LIFTER I LOVES THE MEAT POPSICLE'S"
That way there is no going back, he told the wife and the world.

To summarize I am leaving because:

1. I am tired of working a fake job for a fake company for fake pay when I could be working for my own company and making real money.

2. I want to do real world things and I no longer want a distraction from them. Write some books, further my long term goals, **** my hot wife into unconsciousness. Things like that.

3. I am sick of the jerks and the crybabies in no specific order. You know who you are. Again the good people will be missed (Akita T and my corp mates I am looking at you).

4. Real time skill training. I think I can do this myself in the real world without the "privilege" of paying someone else to do so.

5. Eve is not an escape, it is a prison designed to keep your inner potential restrained.

May you all have long lives and never get podded.

Meh, money isn't the end goal in life or in Eve. Once your basic needs are met it becomes more about whatever floats your boat - generally self improvement and hobbies. If you want to write books and make movies and whatever... that's cool. Do that. That shouldn't preclude you playing Eve though.

Also, ******* your hot wife into unconsciousness has nothing to do with playing or not playing Eve. Or if it does, you play Eve wrong.

Anyway, good luck chasing real life money!

Yeah just log in to flip skills and do few hours with friends or such, wait to see is this game gonna pull it self from the grave.

But atm this game dont deserve much time or effort, name calling and mention of sis or mom in local is about it or if you are nice some smack talk with corp m8.

If you are looking for closure... then best wishes...

If this is a cry for help, then drop everything you own and join RvB and keep your life and EVE intact. You won't regret it.

It sounds a lot like you never figured out what to do in EVE…

Making up your own goals and trying to get there is half all the fun.

Funny, I always considered EVE's best feature to be how small the time investment requirement was. I guess you were just doing it wrong.

(...)Beyond the reasons above I am also sick of the player base. The vast majority of the players are just jerks or selfish petulant children. One just wants to bully everyone else and the other just wants to whine and cry and throw a tantrum until they get their way. You cannot be left alone to enjoy yourself, or the company of friends, without often being bothered by either type(...)

Unfortunately there is a lot of truth here! By comparison, the community today has become horrid and seems to be one of the major reasons why Eve cant seem to grow as it did several years ago or retain a more friendlier player base.
