At what point is a fleet considered a blob?

I've added a metric to the killboard I wrote to categorize fleet sizes for kills. It's set to the following:

  • 1 pilot = Solo
  • 2 - 9 = Small Gang
  • 10+ = Blob

So sizes beyond the single digits are blobs currently. Probably a bit conservative. Want to see what your thoughts are on this. Here's an example from the site showing a pie chart based on the above - it's on the right under Kills by Fleet Type:

Edit: changed to 1 = Solo, 2 - 9 = Small Gang, 10 - 29 = Large Gang and 30+ = Blob.

Personally wouldn't consider 10+ a blob. Seems pretty small scale still. I would think maybe 30-40+

Alright so far it seems then:

  • 1 pilot = Solo
  • 2 - 9 = Small Gang
  • 10 - 29 = Large Gang
  • 30+ = Blob

They're blobbing when they got more numbers than you.

If you got more than them, it's just "small gang PvP"

The proper definition of "a blob" is "your fleet + 1"

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.

A fleet is considered a blob at the point that the losers of the engagement feel the need to blame something other than tactical failures for their loss.

That's really all there is to it.

Yes, that is the correct mathematical formula.

If that rule is not met, you can resort to whining about the others overshipping.

It's a blob when you lose.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I'd add a condition statement:

If (all fleet members have the same ship hull and fit) then
{
Its a blob
}
Else
{
Not a blob
}
end if

If enemy fleet = Your fleet +1 or more and you lose/don't engage - enemy = blobbers
If enemy fleet = Your fleet +1 or more and you win/they don't angeag - enemy = noobs/cowards
If enemy fleet = Your fleet-1 or less and you win/they don't engage - enemy = should have better social skills/get more friends
If enemy fleet = Your fleet -1 or less and you lose/don't engage - enemy = eeleet pvp ****s who take the game too seriously/have no lives

Whenever someone is out numbered they try to make themselves feel better by labelling the enemy as dishonourable blobbers.

It's only a blob if you lose.
