Being articulate and USA history certainly not my strong points, merely my before (UK) and after (USA) simple but
factual view.


Having moved to the USA 2007 my first experience of a presidential election was a traumatic one to say the least.
The trauma growing on a daily basis for the last 4 year.

When I look back all I ever knew was UK politics, not realizing how little choice in life your average UK resident has. This is
relative to what people take for granted in the USA.

A few specifics might be ability go out and start a business and not be taxed out of existence shortly after or strangled
with red tape the year after when a invariably fat chancellor changes tax laws to cover your niche new business.

That really does say a lot about freedom and how the USA was founded.
One of the many things obama is doing his best to destroy, not even using the tools of democracy but merely
dismissing the very things the USA was founded on.

His army of shirkers, bums happy to feed off the state to the ever increasing detriment of hard working Americans
numbered 52% in the 2008 election.


So true so damn true.



Is this what America really wants ?

If you don't like Obama for personal reasons, then fine, don't like him. But don't make up reasons (aka lies) about Obama's record to justify your not liking him.

The problem isn't that the politicians are playing fast and free with the truth, it's people like the OP who willfully believe the lies, and nowadays, the pols have often gone from stretching the truth to outright making stuff up. The GOP has been the worst offender from what I've seen.

Case in point. I'm guessing this is a reference to the 50% of people who filed Federal Income Tax but didn't pay any tax.

If you read the source where that number comes from, you'll see that half of the 50% who didn't pay made $17,700 or less. The remaining half made ~$33,000 or less. (There were a few millionaires in that 50% who didn't pay federal income tax.) The poverty line for a family of four is around ~$20,000.

Which means:
* There's no point in taxing people near or below the poverty line. They're too busy trying to afford basic food and basic housing.
* Those people still pay taxes in the form of sales taxes, local taxes, etc..
* Doesn't it worry you when a large portion of your tax base doesn't make enough money to pay federal income taxes?

For the ultimate hypocrisy, the GOP is telling us that taxes are bad! Cut taxes! Cut them moar! Yet, they complain when 50% of taxpayers don't pay any federal income tax. Make up your mind GOP, or just publicly state that only the upper 50% shouldn't pay taxes, but the lower 50% of earners should.
