It's because all of the systems' locus numbers (names) begin with J.


Even still calling wormhole space J-Space is stupid, just stick to W-Space. Most will refer J-Space to Jove Space when mentioned.





Why is it stupid? J space refers to the system numbers starting in J. And since you live in the system itself and not the WORMHOLE, J-Space or Unknown makes much more sense than W-Space... The fact that is confuses some people is irrelevant to what the name is.

However, in light of the almighty DEV response, it will be now known as LMspace.
