I'm sorry you have such low standards, at least you're a good consumer.

I believe Eve is a great game. Hell, the best I've played. And I feel I'm getting my money's worth.

You, on the other hand, continue to pay/play for a service you find ****, month after month after month. I think you're a "good" customer ;)].

There is some good that comes from the haters such as yourself. You continue to pay (with time and/or money) and keep Eve alive for those of us that do enjoy it :P.

Just because I didn't answer your question the way you wanted doesn't mean you won a point.
It just means that I didn't your question and tried to tell you that focusing on the crap too much is a problem.

If you want to turn that around to mean you won something then fine. All I see is that you win at telling people that in your mind EVE is crap and no one can tell you otherwise.

And you still couldn't bother naming one thing, amazing. EVE is very much flawed atm and CCP has lost its way for a while now. Why is this even up for discussion?

the vocal minority are the ones who think CQ should be forced, and that WIS is all that ccp should care about for the next 3 years.

That is pretty close to it. I think the only refinement I'd add is CCP shouldn't fall for being told they have proven unable to know how to improve their own game. I'd also add they should go back and look at what they have done, and fall in love with it again! Because most of it was pretty awesome.

Could you point at where this vocal minority is expressing that view? Certainly not in the forums, in game or anywhere else on planet Earth that I am aware.

As much as I'd hate to say this... I actually agree with Herping yourDerp.
The vocal minority are the ones who like WIS. The vocal majority on the forum seem to be people whinging about "WIS and why you take away my spinning?!?! Oh and fix this, this and this!!".

Mainly on the forums in they many many white-knighting and whine-whine threads they spammed all over place.

I think you all need to learn the definition of vocal minority, from the Urban Dictionary...

1. vocal minority

The small group of individuals that frequently and strongly voice their opinions, constrasting with the silent majority that makes up most of the population base, but rarely give their opinions.

Mostly used to refer to forums of a particular service or product, such as a video game.
Vocal Forum Poster : Oh my God, I totally hate all the changes that have been made to this game! You all suck!

Game Developer : Noted. But we're not going to undo the changes, because only the people that don't like them would take the time to come complain, the vocal minority of players. Most people are happy with the changes, and wouldn't stop playing the game to come post on these forums.

More people kept playing than unsubbed and definitely most folks don't bother with the forums... P

I'd like to point this out here as well, just in case it doesn't sink in the first time.

The vocal minority are those complaining, whining and generally being pretty narrow-minded about what EVE is and what it is turning into (you know, what it was intended to be). It is not our fault that you cannot adapt to change, I think that this is what we would call "natural selection."

But congrats to the flood of posters and their many alts who have convinced CCP to take a few steps back. While I've been waiting for Incarna and everything that it brings - for years - you can sit there all complacent knowing that your precious "spaceship game," as hilariously wrong as that label is, will be getting even more attention, regardless of the many years it's already had.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

But hey, I do like the fact that spinning is coming back, not that I'm running a less than adequate system that would require such a reiteration.

If Hello Kitty Online was in the process of evolving their MMO into a Mature rated, gore splattered, full frontal nudity, Vampire MMO, would you tell the Hello Kitty Online customers to adapt to change?

The only "natural selection" going on, is that CCP is dangerously close to winning a Darwin award by alienating their customers by deliberately neglecting the core features that appeal to their customers.

Even then, it still misses the point that people seem to be mostly okay with the idea of expanding Eve to include WiS and become an Uber-We-Have-It-All MMO. However, people have hit their frustration limits due to FiS features being ignored for so long while developing WiS, for CCP's lack of polish and improvement of existing features, and for Incarna being so lackluster that people lost their faith in CCP's ability to deliver WiS in a statistically meaningful time frame.

So you play a spaceships game while you obviously don't like the spaceships part much but rather play something that's planned for it, far in the future and not at all fleshed out? Sounds like the actions of a smart person who should probably lecture others on what is logical and what isn't.

It rather seems like you've become a bit confused about what “side” says what…

Good news: they're not taking any steps back. Instead, they've actually decided (or at least proclaimed) not to take steps back, but rather to only move forward.

Vaporware. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=vaporware

How about we call a truce and agree to revisit that video once the winter expansion is released?

edit: My bad, last I checked, DUST is set for release in spring of 2012. Guess we'll need to extend the truce to 6+ months?

Wow, this thread has turned into a mud-slinging party.
What a pity, especially as the Op makes some very good points, as do a few other posters in this thread.

On the one hand, I have to say thank you to the players who complained to CCP - without the "shouting", I'm not confident that CCP would be as active on the forums as they have been of late - and I also think that CCP would not have made the latest previews of what's coming available to us.

On the other hand there tends to be an ongoing wall of complaints about what has been promised in the past and not yet done.

Neither scenario instills any confidence.

I am playing the "wait and see" game, a-la "winter expansion".

I shall remain positive until then.

Cheers.

EVE is broken. Much of the promises that CCP have put out there have been half filled. Their vision changes like I change my underwear.

so that course you suggest they stay on is one they don't even have the tracks laid for. In other words, CCP doesn't really have a plan and thier half iterations of expansions over the past couple years is the proof.

People are frustrated that CCP has released half content and left so much of the game to remain broken. I agree, they should stay on the course. But, they need to pick that course first. They need to pick a path, develop that path and release finished (not half finished) content.

This really isn't rocket surgery.
