Calculating Ore Yield

Ok, so I've read the refining guides and seen the Yield Calculations and all that but I'm a bit confused.

So the yield calculation goes like this:

[Station Equipment] + 0.375 x (1 + [Refining Skill] x 0.02) x (1+ [Refinery Efficiency Skill] x 0.04) x (1+ [Ore Processing Skill] x 0.05)

So for me the equation looks like this:

0.5 + 0.375 x (1 + 5 x 0.02) x (1+ 5 x 0.04) x (1+ 4 x 0.05) = 1.1386

Tax is 5 - ( 0.75 * [standing])

So for me that's

5 - ( 0.75 * 1.8 ) = 3.65

Now, how does this work in relation to the Ore I have?

For example, how do I workout how much Nocxium I would get from 69,930 units of Pyroxeres? Is the above equation even related?

Before I would divide the Pyroxeres by the batch then multiply by the Nocxium as a result. e.g.

69930 / 333 * 11

I'm trying to build a spreadsheet for calculating needs based on production runs. The equation above is useless without context and I can't find anything that gives me that context.

I can find online converters but these don't tell me how they get their calculations.

Anyone know how this works?

Thanks

I didn't use the equation for my spreadsheet. I just refined a basic batch of each ore (333 pieces for most high-sec ore) and put the resulting amount of minerals into my charts.

You will have to update the spreadsheet as you become better refiner, and also to reflect changes in tax rates as your standings change.

The numbers don't match though.

If I use the example of the amount I had:

69930 / 333 * 11

The answer = 2310

However, the load I got from the refining is actually 2226.

I'm missing something in my calculation somewhere.

I think I have the answer now.

I didn't incorporate taxes.

So currently my tax rate is 3.65 but I hadn't made it a percentage. So I altered the tax like so

(5-(0.75*1.8))/100

Now it works out perfectly.

I did the same, using 999 or 1200 units of each ore type, writing down what they gave in minerals. Years ago. Then later when I got perfect refine (due to Caldari Navy corp standing, and better skillz) I did it again, noting down the new amounts.

The OP needs to notice that there are two things that detract from mineral yield: Waste, and the "we take" thing. The firts is due to refining skillz, and the base yield of the refinery (hint: You want a station with a 50% base yield refinery), while the second is a sort f "tax" charged by the station, based on your standing with the NPC corporation owning the station.

This calculation is based on your standing after the Connections skill has been taken into account (so buy Connections and train it to 4), and you need a final standing value of about 6.7 in order to reduce the "tax" to zero.

I understand all that.

Because my refining and refinery efficiency skills are 5 that makes my yield become based entirely on tax rates.

It was the latter I was going wrong.

Seriously guys, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It made a big difference.

You don't need to max out your refining skillz to get perfect refine. Just train the ore-specific skillz so that you can use T2 mining crystals in your T2 strippers, and then train Refining Efficiency to reduce waste to 0%.
