Problem with horror games

Try playing DayZ.

The zombies WILL eventually stop scaring you when you learn how to deal with them.

But other people? they're always scary, you might go hours without seeing or hearing anything, so random shot whizzin past your face tends to evoke quite the reaction.

Any single player game will eventually get old, there isnt much you can do about it, though I found Amnesia held up pretty dam well, a more varied selction of baddies would have helped tbh

FEAR wasn't scary, it was a Psychological horror intended to make you think (the birthing scene in particular if anyone remembers it was interesting) however as the series went on it went downhill, i didn't even bother with three, even after Alma raped me at the end of 2 :( i would give a recommendation to silent hill 2, however i'd also recommend you don't use guides and don't have any friends tell you about the game first, because that ruined it alot for me.

Hands down, Amnesia is the scariest game I've ever played. It's true, though: It relies mostly on fear of the unknown, so if you die enough times, the monsters lose their effect. Still pretty amazing, especially for an indie company.

Maybe the sequel will have better AI.

If you like ghost stories, give Fatal Frame II a shot.

I met a total ass in that game. We took cover up in a tower and he was out of ammo so, me being the awesome person I am, I give him some ammo. Then he shot me and took all my stuff Evil

Later I was driving around a truck mounted AA gun and I saw him in the airport control tower through the window. I parked the truck and got in the BFG and proceeded to process him into a state where the zombies could just use a straw Pirate

I don't know about "scared" but EQ1 used to give me the creeps. But that was before they added maps and made most MOBs easy to outrun. Now faydark and such places, you can almost see kittens wrestling in the distance if you look hard enough What? Quick! run to the pok book for protection from teh kittens!
Yeah...

That's the problem, once I stop being scared with a game the game is basically pointless. I've been waiting to play amnesia again, tried it for a little and not much. Although I am looking at a game called The Path, it seems interesting.

*Edit* I've played bits of Silent Hill at a friend's house, never really seemed that scary. It was a fun game, it just wasn't as scary as I had hoped.

The Path is a "experimental" game, I have finished it, and ... well. its entertaining , but a bit open ended.

If you really want a game to frighten you, I COULD recommend some, but they are so old the UI might be bonkers to you or the low graphics might put u off.

DARK SEED is to this day one of the most bizarre and scary games I have ever played, the ending is .. well, special, (wont spoil anything) and to top it off it has a direct H.R. Giger art theme over it.

Problem is, the game is OOOOLD ... but if you look around the screenshots you can find in google of it you will see why some people like me, cherish this little game.

Others that are kinda scary in the fact they are interactive Gore B movies , are called Phantasmagoria 1 and 2. But alas, also OOOLD.

Games like Fear, Dead Space, blah blah ... they just end up being 3rd person shooters of zombies. Thats why you get into mental lockdown.

For horror, I can recommend those two heartily in that they were made before the stupid mold of placing everything in DOOM style layouts.

Give a try to Clive Barkers Jericho and forget the GAMEPLAY (wich is atrocious sometimes) and just focus on the story, which is marvelous. But if the gameplay annoys you too much then you wont enjoy the story, I just played it to listen to the narrator and see how events unfolded, very nice solid story there, up to this day the Karma Bomb concept is appealing to me.

As a fourth option .. I could give u a a hint ... but that game is a game I have avoided playing purposefully. To play it is to enter a world of madness, yet only some people can give you the key. I can give it to you, for a price. Im one of the keykeepers, but alas, I dont know if you would be up for it. ...
