i'm employed has a salvage alt for my brave captain. however my captain still wants more for me and i'm confused.

i was thinking the best way to serve was to become a researcher and ship builder. but i have no idea which books to read. i searched google to be met with old guides who mention learning skills etc. which i know are out of date.

could someone please assist me in showing me the skills i should learn if i am to help my captain with research and ship building.

i am not interested in trading, just researching blue prints for tech 2, and build ships up to bc level for my pvp captain.

even a point in the right direction would be helpful.

thanks :)

You will need to pick an area you want to do research in. And you can narrow that down by looking at what race/type of T2 ships you want to make.

For example, to pick on Buzzards, the Caldari covert ops ship.

Take a look at the following pages:
Buzzard
Heron
Look in the upper right hand corner, that tells you what skills and materials you need to make the item.

In the case of the Buzzard, you need:
Industry 5,
Frigate Construction 3,
Caldari Starship Engineering 1 (needs Science 5 and Mechanics 5),
Electrical Engineering 1 (needs Science 5 and Electronics 5).

To make a Heron, you need:
Industry 1. (I think every character starts with this skill now)

Generally, to make a tech 1 item, you need only Industry 1 skill. But check on Chruker's website just to be sure.

Generally, to make a tech 2 item, you need Industry 5 and the skill needed to invent the item. Ships will need an additional "construction" skill.

If you are going to be researching the blueprints for your corporation, you need to get Metallurgy, Laboratory Operations and Research skills to 5, and Advanced Lab Operations to 3 or 4.

If you are going to be making the ships, you need to get Production Efficiency and Mass Production to 5.

If you are going to be inventing the blueprints, you probably want to get several research and developement agents. You need a variety of datacores to make T2 blueprints. If you look at the Herron page again, on the right hand side under "Invention", you will see that you need 2 flavors of datacores and an "esoteric data interface". The interface is returned to you (it is a tool). The datacores get consumed when you attempt to make the invention.

I've underlined the skills you want to get to 5 as soon as possible.

Don't start with ships. That is a road to epic failure. Start with other items, likes ammo, scripts, rigs, drones, or modules.
