You're not going to make billions solo afk mining in a retriever P

You can... eventually...

Might not be before you've turned in to a gibbering mess in the corner at mere sound of a survey scanner... But you'll get there...

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

you can pvp with a week old character, the idea that you need to build up funds before you have enough to pvp is a pure cop out trust me because i had the same mindset when i started. you just have to fit out a t1 frig and you can be tackle.

It starts with a retriever then goes up to a hulk then you get orca pilot and soon you have 2 hulks and orca afk mining if half the way down the road you just don't quit and go play something more fun.

Anyhow most fun time i had was in a rifter. Also you start with a rifter then you slowly get bigger and more expensive stuff because ppl who "collect isk" to pvp usually end up in a mach in their first fight and then tears are to be had.

Sorry but could you explain a little about sell orders? New to the market.

When you sell any item you have two options: Putting up a sell order or filling an existing buy order.

Filling an existing buy order has two advantages... you get your isk right away and you don't pay any broker fees, just taxes.

However, Setting up a sell order is generally a superior thing to do as the prices on buy orders tend to be less than what the item is actually worth. You'll get more for your ore with sell orders.

To setup a sell order, click the "advanced" button on your market sell order to open up new options. Mainly, you can set the price you WANT for the ore as well as how long you want to keep the sell order active (up to 3 months).

Check the markets and see what the lowest priced sell order is and set your price to be slightly under that. You'll find that it will be decently higher than what you'd get with the buy order.

The down side to using sell orders is that you have to wait for people to buy your goods so you won't get isk right away. You also might have someone else who comes in with a lower price on those goods; meaning their stuff will get bought before yours unless you modify your price later. Lastly, you do have to pay a broker fee to setup a sell order. Good relations with the station you are trading in along with the Broker Relations skill can help reduce this fee.

Overall Sell orders will make you more in the long run, but you have to know your markets.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Having billions is fun, though. I know that from personal experience.

I made 400 million in about a week. I **** you not. I undocked, warped to belt, released drones, sucked mostly Scordite, pulled drones back in, docked. And that was semi-AFK mining. Almost 2 Charon-fulls of ore, a bit under 2x980 m3, which I hauled to Jita and sold for 400 million.

Or you can grow balls, head to 0.0, find an exploration site, and loot 1.2 bil in deadspace modules in under two hours.

Have fun making 57 mil a day, I'll stick with my 1.2 to 2.4 bil.

The "fun" you seek is the whole time where you are "just getting into pvp". When you're bored of LvL4 missions do the following :

○ Run a single LvL4 Mission and make 30 Million ISK
○ Spend 30 Million ISK on three T1 frigates with fits (could easily get more than 3)
○ Go to lowsec faction warfare system and look for frigate pew pew (there is PLENTY of 1v1 left in lowsec fw)
○ Rinse and repeat with updated fits based on what you learned from the last fights.

Even if you lose all 3 you had a fun day and at the cost of a single LvL4 mission. I'd suggest that maybe "the stuff you wanna fly in pvp" thats so expensive you have to MINE? for it is maybe a little on the pricey side for beginner pvp anyway. Then again aint that half the fun at times :)

It depends on what you want from the game.

If you want to be a pr0miner and maximise your m3/hr mined you'll need friends, if you have no friends a mining corp will do.
m3/hr means the Covetor and then the Hulk, with Orca and Industrial hauler support A.K.A. a fleet or Mining Op.

If you want to afk mine all day and you dont really care about m3/hr ratio's and pr0miner zealots bore you, then your Retreiver and later the mackinaw will be what you need. Friends and/or mining corps are irrelevant, you need neither.

If you are paranoid and constantly fear 'the gank' then the procurer or skiff are what you want.
orebay isnt awesome, m3/hr isn't awesome, but the $/Gankship ratio is terrible. Friends and/or a mining corp are optional.
