Fleet Mechanics

Hey There,

I got attacked in high sec by a Drake while mining in my Retriever and I had a question about the fleet mechanics.

I was in fleet at the time with a friend of mine who is in a different Corporation and when I got attacked my friend said that the attacker appeared flashing red to him aswell as soon as he started to open fire.

So does that mean that fleet members will be able to assist me in a defense even when they are not in my corporation ?

Greetings,

The blinkyness of your attacker has nothing to do with fleets or no fleets. Therefore, your question makes little to no sense. Fleets will never effect any combat flagging (anymore).

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Let me explain it a bit more...

I was in fleet, mining with a friend of mine, who is in a different corporation. I got jumped and got attacked, at the moment the Drake jumped in he was gray to me and my friend and as soon as he started to fire at me, he became red to me and my friend aswell while my friend did not get attacked.

I always assumed that fleet members could not interfere or only when they are in the same corporation... or am I wrong ?

My question is... When I get attacked while I'm in a fleet, will my fleet members be able to shoot at the attacker, even when they themselves are not being fired at and while not being in my corporation.

If he attacked you without reason, then he got Global criminal countdown which allows anyone to attack him. In that case he will also die soon to CONCORD.

Ok, I did not know that, that's good to know...

It was hilarious... He jumped in with a drake and started firing. He was a 20 day old character and his missiles didn't pack much punch cause my Retriever was at 60% armor when his Drake went poof by Concord.

I assume he didn't know how high sec works cause you're not going to suicide gank in a Drake for a mere Retriever with 10k missiles in your cargohold. For a 20 day old character he had a pretty expensive fit.

Flashing red = war target. Your friend's corp / alliance was at war, so he was fair game for the attacker.

If you were then attacked, and your corp / alliance was not at war also, then the attacker got a GCC (would turn red to you = outlaw) and then was vaporized moments later by CONCORD.

A lot of people confuse "flashing red" (war target) with "red boxed" (aggressor) though.

Being in a fleet doesn't change the aggression mechanics on anything other than wrecks and jetcans.

As Malaire said.

We had a corp member a while back, that sat in Jita popping suicide gankers from an interceptor - podding a few.

When someone has a GCC, anyone can freely attack that person - getting in on the CONCORD killmail.

This can often infuriate the hell out of suicide gankers, who don't expect to get a Killboard lossmail with someone on it vs just fluffing it with industrial and/or miner kills - concord incidents are filtered so don't show - UNLESS a player hits them with something.
