well as ap layer with 5 million SP its come to my attention from my corp and alliance it might better to start on a alt

1. for pvp
1.for pve

atm i am a amarr flyer i wanna create a pve race but i wanna think in the long run will it be used for pvp also

ex. 6months down the line ok my amarr guy is decent my pve guy is pretty dam good in pve lets get started in pvp on my pve guy seeing how is pve can be capable enough of making me alot of isk and im getting bored of amarr flying,

basically what it comes down to what do you guys suggest for my alts flying race to be ? from that statement

also what do you guys suggest disregarding that statement and just going for straight pve toon?

It would be stupid to throw away 5m SP as I am sure a lot of applicable support skills are in there. Just pick a race that has ships you like and train towards it. Unlike many other MMOs, it is not wise to just start an alt, unless they are traders or miners etc. doing something you have no SP in.

At 5m SP you are just learning what you like and don't like.

Caldari is by far the most popular PvE race. And Go with Missiles for PvE

They have the Drake. The drake can do anything. And once you are done with the drake there is the tengu, raven, golem.

Seriously though, missiles always hit, have great range, you can switch damage types as required.

Yeah, glad you cleared up the bit about the 2nd account. That makes a lot of difference.

Now about race ... that doesn't matter.

The only thing one race gets you over another - is Faction Frigate II and maybe a few points in your basic weapon - all of which can be trained by any other race in a few hours.

So - your real concern here - is not which Race you want to fly but which ships.

You can pretty much run missions in anything but some ships have weapons systems that are more appropriate to the rats in their areas (or vice versa).

An Example would be Lasers. Lasers do EM & Thermal damage - which the rats in Amarr space are more vulnerable to.

Of course - that's also one of the reason why ships with Missiles and Projectile weapons are more popular - as they can deal any type of damage. Minmatar ships often carry both Missiles and Projectile weapons.

So - what you may want to be thinking - is where do you want to use this character. Probably in the same area the other accounts character operates in. For one thing - if you can operate them both at the same time - they can help each other out.

The thing with Caldari ships and Missions - is that if you just train missiles and shields it's easier than if you have to train something else as well - so they're popular for that reason.

Also - with Shield Tanking ships - since missions are so easy - you rarely get damage to your armor. Thus, an Armor Tanking ship is set up to rapidly repair it's armor - but - it's the shields that are always hit first and the rats often never get to the Armor. So here you sit, waiting after clearing a room for your shields to recharge before going on to the next room in a ship and with skills that are not optimized to recharge those shields. Of course - you can just ignore your shields and go on to the next room with them partially recharged - but then you're not at your peak if you run into trouble.

With a Shield Tank - you are optimized to recharge the thing that is always going to take damage first and may be the only thing to be damaged. Thus - you get yourself back to peak condition faster, letting you enter the next room sooner - and finish the mission faster. You've also got the GTFO card to play of leaving when you get to Armor. As long as you do that - you really shouldn't lose your ships. Not losing your ships - means that you don't need to insure them.

Amarr and Gallente (mostly) use weapons that only deliver two types of damage (EM & Thermal / Kinetic & Thermal) - but - they can also (often) use Drones well - which can do any type of damage - but require you to spend more skill points training drones.

Minmatar ships can use Missiles & Projectiles weapons which do any type of damage and can often tank shields or armor (some better than others) while some of them have drones too - but that requires you to train all that to be able to use it.

Thus - Caldari ships are generally considered to be easier to train, which lets you get into bigger ships faster and move on to higher level missions - which is what mission runners mostly are after. It's get - Get to Those Level IV Missions as Fast as You Can.

Now - as I said - you can run missions in anything and each factions ships have their exceptions but over all it's just easier and quicker to get to those Level IV Missions in Caldari ships - so that's what a lot of people use.

The thing you have to look out for if you do that though - is that if you skimp on your support skills - you'll be flying a hollow ship that doesn't last as well if it gets into trouble. Also - while drones aren't that important for your lower level Missions - as you get bigger ships with bigger weapons - they are less effective against smaller ships - and you'll be wanting those drone skills trained up, especially if those smaller ships you're having trouble killing - are using webs and warp disruptors ...
