The players of EVE now have the chance to create a section and participate in one of Europe's largest online gaming leagues called The Electronic Sports League. When i say large, i mean large.

The ESL Offers a WIDE range of ways to PEW PEW for fun AND to PEW PEW competitively, Ladders, Cups, ect.
If enough support for this idea is given i can get a section opened in the ESL and MAYBE just Maybe we might be able to get some top notch pvp going.

This is in the idea stage and NOTHING is set in stone as of yet. we need players of The EVE universe to show support by saying they will play the section in ESL if it were to be created. ESL offer a chance to play as a team, solo, ect and can be great fun. if we make this a success who knows where we would go with this.

As a Previous Admin of the ESL i know how fun this could be and i am serious on the rule of multi accounts. PLEASE do not make a new account if you are unsure if you might already have one.

I allways loved how things are run in the ESL, i have not been active there for a while though (used to play in the counter strike 1v1 league) back in the days when i was still young and had something called a reaction time :).....

I would think there are many people in eve that would like an "official pvp league" and using the ESL as plattform would ensure that it is run properly. You should need to find a way to make sure that it does not end up as league where only people with shitloads of ISK can participate. Module wise this could easily done by providing screenshots which have to be taken before the match and use killmails / battlereports.

A problem i can see though would be implants. The only way to ensure people are not getting an advantage by using implants would be to provide api keys and have some1 from the ESL make sure that at the time of the match no forbidden implants have been used. (Something like their webiste making an api call, the moment the fighting teams click the "start match" button on the website or something like that).

One problem i see right now is the "arena size" there is not really any way to limit the battlefield in size, but maybe its enough to not allow people to leave the grid and force people to provide a video of the fight.

A real problem would be outside interference, there is no way you can make sure that just the teams will be fighting each other, without other people jumping into it, unless you would do it somewhere on the test server, but that would be kinda lame then.

This point alone would make it pretty much impossible to run the league unless ccp ever comes up with some kind of arena combat system, but if ccp implements anything you can be sure that there will be an outcry of the comunity saying: "This is not WoW, we do not want arena fights" which in general i am not a fan of myself, but if it would be implemented just for that purpose i would not really mind it as long as the old system stays intact and its just an addition.

Then again with crimewatch coming i guess people who fight arround amarr by flipping their cans to be able to shoot each other might like something like an arena to brawl without everyone in the system being able to shoot one side.

Also i think this could have a very positive effect on EvEs subscription numbers, as this might have a better advertising effect than anything ccp has done themselves over the past few years.
