My profoundest apologies for my behavior on IGS last night. I was enjoying a nice, 20 year old bottle of Amarr cognac, and a few other substances. I dare say I enjoyed it too much.

If it'll help them shoot straight, like Istvaan here, instead of blathering on in the usual "I'm going to make vague allusions and pretend I know more than you" style, I feel it's my duty to get some Amarr cognac and well-cut Crash out to all the would-be prophets and madmen that have graced the Summit over the years.

While you won't receive any arguments about the "usual style" it's been put forward in, Shogaatsu's ramblings are - as the Cardinal noted - somewhat unsettling to those who have been around long enough to still recall a few interesting loose ends.

It's largely forgotten now but almost two decades back a Kaalakiota transport Hvarkann had its moment in the spotlight. On a standard transport run through high-sec from one corporate station to another it vanishes into thin air. Internal KK and DED investigations fail to locate it but unsubstantiated reports gleaned second-hand from Caldari-Gallente border intelligence agencies suggest the DED identified the transport and its four frigate escort entering a stargate without ever appearing on the exit gate's register. The case goes cold, the cluster moves on.

Four years later the KK station the ships were bound for registers four frigates and a transport broadcasting the Hvarkann's IFF codes on approach. The return of the Hvarkann and its long lost crew get a second fifteen seconds of fame across the cluster's media networks but once again fade quickly from the memory of most.

The frigates detailed for escort of the Hvarkann were members of Means to an End, which morphed and escalated into EC which quite possibly went on to do much of what Shogaatsu claims - at least to one extent or another.

By the standards of most modern capsuleers, this is all ancient history of course. Much of that history has been shaped by a man who is a consummate and pathological liar. So take it as you will.

It's probably just a footnote in some ongoing personal story that may well be of no consequence to the rest of the cluster.

However, in the event things did fly as those unsubstantiated reports claim it's clear the disappearance of the transport and its escorts was not an isolated occurrence.

I rather enjoyed that post, i managed to read it before it was removed and i must say there was a beauty in the madness.
It was rather intoxicating like the fine Amarr liquor that assisted in producing it.

Damn, sorry that I missed out on all the fun and "truthiness".

I'm sending you several cases of my former vineyard's VItalia Estate YC '81 batch.

Never apologize.

A little Voice said someone was talking in random gibberish that wasn't so random.

Such a pity I missed it.

That said, some of what you said rings true. Imperfect cloning (not genetic cloning, but data cloning) could easily be used by certain groups to not only "eavesdrop" on fluid router communications but in fact do things far more insidious.

A similar process could be used to duplicate--albeit imperfectly--any capsuleer; or vice versa, such a duplication could be used to "infect" a capsuleer (intentionally or not) via connections we already use. For instance, Sleeper technology integrated into a Strategic Cruiser. There are reports of destruction of such vessels damaging the pilot, "losing" some of the learned ability to pilot the craft.

Just imagine the horror one would feel if they suddenly discovered that they aren't who they thought they were; or more terrifying, the prospect that you discover that your mind is not your own, and you are simply the vessel of a consciousness alien to our existence.

I'd want a drink too if something like that had happened to me.

Possibly.

Though I do have some things that need attending to. Like finding that thing that I left in that place that I didn't tell anyone about and which is vitally important to that thing I might want to do at some undetermined future date.

But yes, home. Or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

That "drink" is a combo of Amarr cognac and Crash, not to hard to find really. I'm actually very interested in the combo effect of those to substances on Istvaan's behavior. I wonder if those substances made opened his mind to that theory or if those substances gave him the "courage" to post it.

I don't know if I'm too worried about this, or not worried enough.

All I know as that at least one Shogaatsu would know that his words would linger long after one of them deleted them.

I read the original content on a certain archive. Most wonderful, Istvaan. It may have been drunken posting, but it isn't far from the same things I was concluding myself a while back.

I'm saving this. Just because I can't stop laughing at the original post.

Am I still on stand-by for that by the way? Also, nice jacket.

EDIT: I found the archive and uh well, all I can really say is..."wow, why does he make sense?"
