The expert planetary interaction guide

We've put together a little guide for those who have experience in setting up and running PI colonies. It's a bit unconventional and in some cases gets you to a place where you max out on the number of logical connections in a colony.

Please see link here. Admittedly it's the ultimate in carebearism and not a very exciting way to play the game, but a good way to make ISK nonetheless.

Nice read. Here are a few suggestions (if you're looking for any).

1) You don't really touch on planet sizes, which IMO is as important, and in cases for some materials (oxidizing compounds) planet size is far more important then resource availability. The larger the planet the more expensive links are, and in cases with gas planets you will be spending 50% - 75% of your CC power on just your extractor links trying to get to the materials. The differences between a 5,000km planet and 125,000 km is astounding, and should always be considered when evaluating a deployment.

2) High yield planets generally don't give you a choice in what you should extract, and should instead be focused on which hot spots have spawned on the planet. Choosing to extract oxygen but with a maximum extraction of 12,000/hour will be less valuable if say for example a hotspot for electrolytes has spawned and will offer 45,000/hour. This dosen't help you if you specific need oxygen and have no need for coolant, but if you're selling for a profit, the higher yielding mat will in most cases have a higher market value.

3) Processing colonies should be setup so all factories are within 6 links of every storage/silo, any longer and you hit the maximum distance issue and requires you to then do some sloppy re-setup of your factory. The best option is to instead simply make sure all factories can access all storage/silos.

Factory planets should also be placed on the smallest possible planet you can find. The smaller the planet the less cost to cpu/power, and with CC IV this is a huge issue and can make the difference f 2 extra factories on the planet.

Also factory planets is the "industry standard" name, and processing colonies my just confuse people ;)
