I have been exploring highsec in a slightly modified wolf fit that I first saw posted by mxzf, and am now ready to try my hand at lowsec.

I have spent time in lowsec before so I know how to stay safe(mash d-scan, watch local, check pilot's sec status and corp history, etc.). I have trained up cov-ops on my main with level 4 scanning skills. In about 4 days I will be cov-ops level 4 with cov-ops cloak. I will be using a cheetah to scan, and eventually my alt will be scanning for me.

My question is what ship should I run the combat sites in.

Beyond knowing that I will not be exploring close to FW space, I haven't made a decision on the where to try. I am mainly a minmatar pilot, with T2 medium projectiles. I could fly gal or cal also, although T2 hybrids are around 20 days off to get both to spec 4. I have T2 small and medium drones. I can fly only T2 frigs, but have BC 4. Loki isn't very far off, but until I make oodles of isk from exploring(or not) dropping the better part of a billion on a ship seems .... unwise. I could afford it, replace it even, but idk if I want to risk it.

my advice, get a scaning alt and a drake.

drake have enough buffer/passive recharge to tank almost all plexs in caldrie land, and enough dps to solo a 6/10 one

Forgot to add that my missile skills are very poor, only 135k sp compared to 4.2m in gunnery. Getting my missile support skills up to 4 would take awhile.

Before you decide what ship you want to fly, you have to decide is where you want to explore, how much you're comfortable spending, and what sites you're going to target. A ship for running Guristas 6/10s is going to be extremely different than something running Sansha Mag sites.

In general, I would probably suggest an AF for running profession sites (Mag/Radar) due to the fact that they're extremely ISK efficient and small enough to get around lowsec fine without a cloak or anything as long as you make safes to probe from.

For more difficult sites (combat sites), you'll probably want a T3/HAC/pirate cruiser/BC. An AF might be able to run some of the simpler combat sites (I know from experience that my Wolf fit you mentioned can run up to atleast 4/10 easily), but in general you'll want something with a bit more gank for combat sites, especially if there are webs involved.

Once you know what you're trying to do, it's easier to figure out what to do it in.

Right now it is either sansaha or angel. I am leaning towards sansha.
