WH popping confusion

Hey all

I am having a little difficulty getting the hang of WH popping. Now I know that there are some variances in total mass but twice now it has seemed very far off from my calculations. Also any advice would be appreciated.

I live in a C1 so all WH's have a max per trip mass of 20,000,000kg

I often get a z971 spawn. If they are bus I like to get them popped. According to the WH database at ellatha a z971 has a max mass of 100,000,000

So the WH goes stage 2 when the mass allowance hits 50,000,000 or less.

So I was using my occator, which is 19,500,000

I kept close track of my jumps. I jumped out at one point, and on the way back in the WH went stage 2. Which by my guesstimates should have had at least 30,000,000 left (even if the WH had been at 51,000,000 before the jump it should have had 31,000,000 left)

Now on my next jump out the WH went right past stage 3 (10,000,000 or less) and collapsed.

So could the mass variance be that high? I guess in the future I will have to switch to a ship closer to10,000,000 once I hit stage 2.

I can't recall exactly, but it's either ±10% or 20% mass from the base. And if you can fly one, use a heavy interdictor. Use several warp disruption field generators, as each one active reduces the mass of your ship by a large percentage. Turn them on when going out of the hole, then on the other side turn your afterburner or MWD on before going back in. With 1600mm plates and trimarks, you can make a dictor with quite a lot of mass in one direction and very little in the other.

PVP is a question with no single right answer, but a lot of wrong ones.

It is 10%

100,000,000 kg is needed to collapse it, 20,000,000 kg is the maximum you can jump through.

The hole may be 110,000,000 / 100,000,000 kg / 90,000,000 kg, the best approach is to jump up to 80,000.000 kg then use a swoop.

A "Swoop" is a ship that is for example is 5,000,000 kg in mass but allows you to turn on an oversized prop to increase it like an AB or microwarpdrive so it then increases it to 10,000,000kg for the trip back to try and collapse the whole on the way back.

It's 20 %.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Personally I'd have to lean towards the agreement of a 20% variance. if it were only 10% then there is no way I could have popped it the way I did. But at 20% it was feasible.

I cannot yet fly a heavy interdictor, but I will keep that in mind for when I can. Otherwise I will build up a smaller WH popper "swoop" ship. Luckily being a C1 the only WH's i generally try to pop are the random HS's. The rest are too annoying with their respective mass limits. So worst case is I get stuck in K space. And generally I could make a ship that I can dock up real quick to online plates etc for the jump back.
