Issues, Workarounds & Localization

Looking for some help on a particularly frustrating issue. For some reason within the past week or so, nearly every time I play EVE for more than 20 minutes or so, my client begins to frequently stall and freeze. Music still plays perfectly fine, but there's no way the game could be considered playable.

The biggest issue here is that it slows my entire computer down to a crawl, and the only fix I've found thus far is a hard reset. It takes ages to alt tab, and once I do nothing in the system is responsive. If I attempt to get to the task manager, my computer screen goes black for several minutes and ultimately gives me an error that the screen that is reached via ctrl+alt+del isn't available.

This most definitely isn't a hardware problem, or at least it isn't with the myriad other games and programs I run on this machine. Any help or input is greatly appreciated, I was having a blast with this game before it became absolutely unplayable.
