Nobody has access to my emails. I have allowed a CEO to view my mails for initial review into a corp...after that they get nothing. This isn't a problem with EVE. It's a problem with your friends having no balls to stand up for themselves and say no.

If a corp doesn't want me because they want to stick their noses up my ass where it does not belong then screw em. There are plenty of other corps out there that will accept me.

I've noticed that corps have only started asking for Full APIs (read: everything checked on the checkboxes) since the transition from the old full/limited API system.

I suppose CEOs are just too lazy to go through the effort of deciding which checkboxes they actually need to see.

Another reason why I play solo. Not giving my API to anyone...

There's nothing wrong with giving your limited API to someone...so long as you don't mind them reading through your crap. They cannot steal your account with the limited API even with all the check boxes checked.

The way I see it...either you want this 68mil SP, max logistics on all races, max missile, shield, armor, beam, Caldari and Amarr capital pilot...or you don't.

Yes...it may sound like me being cocky and bragging...but you know what? A lot of corps and alliance WANT pilots with the skills I have because they need em. If you want to pry into my ongoing business in EVE. Too bad. I am not a spy...but if I were...I wouldn't be dumbass enough to use my primary account for forwarding intel. =P

Pretty much what it comes down to is this. CEO's want to see all your info. They claim this is to prevent spies. Maybe this is true...maybe it isn't...fact of the matter is, it will do absolutely nothing. CEO has no way of knowing if I have alt accounts or not. I personally don't spy...too much meta gaming for me. But there is absolutely nothing I can do or say to prove that anyway. So why bother with API checks? It means nothing in the end.

You do realize there are email options other than eve? And chat channels in game cannot be monitored.

If it's possible it will be expected. If people don't enjoy the game because they have no privacy they may not continue playing. I think it's best for everyone if the controlling pricks that insist on invading everyone's privacy had that ability taken away. Let private conversations remain private for everyone...

All well and good, but when you give people the opportunity to do so then people will try to take advantage of it.

I'd say just get rid of the API.

If you don't want someone reading your mails, uncheck that check box. Simple as that.

If the Corp you're joining wants access as a condition of employment, well then it's up to you which you value more. Membership or Privacy.

You're missing the point... If it's "standard" to give full access everyone will require it... So if you want into any corp that's worth a damn you have to do what is "STANDARD" which means allow full invasions of privacy... CCP is the only group that can change this.. Mail access needs to no longer be possible.... It's the only way.

If someone is a spy they can use a different account and this access won't do any good anyways... This doesn't help. It only hurts peoples ability to enjoy the game. The types of people that demand this level of control are not the types of people it should be given too.... Yet narcissists always end up at the top because it's what they do naturally. They see a ladder, they must climb it.

I completely agree with this. I intentionally left mail out on an application because I concider it private and it was requested almost instantly. It's not that I had something to hide but seriously, when paranioa becomes so strong you can't even keep your mail private in fear of spies and random awoxers something's ****** up.

It is called standing up for yourself. They should try it. No one is forcing them to stay in said corporation.

never seen a 0.0 corp that demanded to read alliance members' e-mails
in reality highsec corps are often much more autocratic then the worst nullsec group

In all seriousness, any spy or thief worth their salt can make a character that no one can trace. The only real thing to watch is that certain promotions by CCP will link the accounts. Those characters are happy to give up their squeaky clean API's.

Secondly, there's no stopping someone from turning on you. They can have the best credentials in the world and then just decide they want your stuff more than your comradery.

Finally, in the case of the OP, there is no reason why they can't talk to you unless you really are a thief. The guys said their alliance checks their mails, not forbids them. I said that tinged with sarcasm earlier, but that really is the bottom line in relation to how the OP was worded. They are not forbidden to talk to you, they are being watched. If talking to you raises a red flag, it's for a reason.

There are many ways to get a full api than just asking for it. I found this out and just laughed. I told the guy who had it I feel bad for whoever has to scrub those long winded pages of nonsense....

Here's the secret: Make everything above a 3rd grade reading level and 90% of people won't read it. Hell, most people can't type out "Too long; didn't read" without ADD kicking in.

I think the OP's "friends" just don't want to talk to him. Either that or he's whining about a problem that doesn't really exist for attention.

If you have nothing to hide, providing a full API is no big deal. I know the person in charge of my corp / alliance reads all of my emails (or at least some of them) and it doesn't bother me. I'm not doing or saying anything that I would have a problem talking to him about.

You have to realize that as you get more involved and deeper into this game, you can gain responsibilities and control over assets that take weeks, months and possibly years of work to obtain. Strategies are also a big part of it. Having your corp or alliances info leaked is a big concern.

Any corp that DOES NOT police and check up on its people is looking for their organization to be compromised and ruined.

I wouldn't join any corp/alliance asking for a full API. But if I were of a mind to give my API away, I'd send hundreds of long long evemails - usually copy pasta slash fic. I think it'd be fun. Maybe I'll start an alt.

In my corp it works the other way around. People pass their API key around if they want skill advice or something like that. CEO's that are so paranoid that they require full API keys seem to forget that they can simply shoot at offenders in their corp. Infiltrations can be fun, especially when they bork, the infiltrant gets few Roles assigned and enters corporate stasis.
