Mine if you want to mine. It's not the only ISK generation, you can run missions too.
As for Veldspar, it's highly in demand by people who live in places where it's rare (Null-sec).

Veldspar is rare in nullsec?
Last time I checked, I see multiple gigantic 100K units + Velspar roids.

Yet you have the option to mine veldspar and make some money or mine the nullsec roids and make way more. Guess what miners do.

Mining barges aren't that easy for new players to get into. The Industrial V requirement is a bit of a pain especially if you're only really mining to provide ISK in order to replace ships lost in your level 1/2 missions.

As much as everyone complains it's risky (and they're correct), I prefer to find a nice quiet belt out of everyones way, get a destroyer class vessle, ram it full of Mining lasers and Jet can mine.

Can flippers are about, but ive only been hit once so far (and was stupid enough to fire back thinking it was a mining frigate). Either accept the risk or get a couple of GSC's.
