Ice mining gear prices

I just noticed someone is manipulating the prices of T2 Ice Mining gear across empire. I was pondering it and had some interesting thoughts/questions.

Isotope prices are still high enough that the overinflated Ice Mining T2 gear can be mined back in only a few hours of AFK ice mining. Meanwhile, if you're mining the right race Isotope you can still make something like 8M ISK per hour using only Tech 1 gear. That's still AFK income with little risk in a Procurer or Retriever hull (Procurer is minimized risk).

Thoughts on if this manipulation will be successful? Would people just mine with Tech 1 gear?

This is not just about manipultion. The new mining barges can fit Ice mining upgrades rather than expanded cargoholds. So demand for these items is up. Demand for mining equipment in general is up due to a lot of people wanting to try out the new barges. When traders expect demand to go up they see a potential for profit.

Price is being manipulated right now. More than 200+ units have been bought everyday (over the last couple of days) in the hub i reside.
Prices are now around 5M Buy / 20M Sell.
