Telling new players to start out of PvP corps?

Why?

A new player, frigate with a scram/web/disruptor is INVALUABLE to a fleet on camps and moving gangs.

Simply because most ceos are children with attitudes. Does not mean a new player is useless

YOU might enjoy defending against highsec wardecs, I would detest every second of it. The other things you mention might make some things a bit more convenient, but I doubt that I would find those small advantages outweighed the disadvantages of having to tailor my game to the requirements of others and/or put up with crap that I don't want, like ego-trip wardecs from knobhead CEOs and their corp members whose only pleasure in life is being a complete arse to as many others as possible.

There's nothing wrong with writing a guide on an alt. I did it and it seems to have turned out well. I believe most of the criticism stems from two things (I really am trying to be constructive with my criticism).

The first is that the guide seems rushed and your thoughts seem scattered. It seems like you just sat down in front of your computer, navigated to the eve forums, then decided on an impulsive whim to write a guide straight into the forums themselves. When I wrote mine, I had various drafts and entire sections I threw out in editing. Lots of spell checking, fact checking and additional research took me almost two weeks to write the damn thing. No offense intended, but it seems like you wrote yours in 15 minutes or less.

The second thing is the context of the guide itself. Some parts seem questionable while other parts are factually incorrect. Plus the underlying tone of the guide suggests that you were upset at the time you wrote it and writing this was your way of venting. There's nothing inherently wrong with being passionate about a subject when writing, however sometimes having too much carryover can be detrimental and detract from the point you're making.

Read carefully. I specifically said don't let anyone tell you how to play. With that caveat I shared my own experiences. In fact where I am at irl I'd prefer a solo experience and am working out a way to live as a hermit. To make any blanket statement is dumb, and the op's post is the kind of advice that drives people away.

Joining a corp is not particularly risky. Statisticall, joining a corp will make you play more. If you have fun is up to you, don't let strangers questionable advice, or even trusted corp mates dictate your fun.
