Overview Sorting Order

Currently my overview lists objects by distance with the furthest objects appearing at the top. Is it possible to list objects by a different criterion, say by type?

Yes. Experiment with clicking on the names of categories in your overview to see what configurations you like best. The little symbol over the symbols column sorts the objects on your overview by type.

The overview is HIGHLY configurable.... you can sort it on the fly by clicking on column names, you can add and remove columns in the overview settings, you can filter items on/off the overview by their item type (like interceptor, asteroid, etc) and by their state (fleet member, corp member, outlaw, etc), you can color code your overview to help identify classes of targets, and you have control over the priority of color and icon coding...

Google Overview Settings for EvE...... there's a lot to learn....
