What are some additional features that the general EVE population in particular as opposed to just developers would like to see in a killboard that's been missing from those that you've been using? I've created a new one for fun that's up now here decloaked as a starting point. If you could, please provide some suggestions on how I could improve what I've built thus far - thanks!

Something that no killboard I've seen has is a very comprehensive search. For example, how would you find these things:


  • I remember I killed pilot X in an epic fight, but I don't remember when it was, or what ships we were in.
  • How many Rifters has this guy even lost?
  • What kills has my corp gotten without my alliance's help?
  • Where do we get the most kills?
  • What is my most expensive kill? Loss?
  • How many people have I killed in nullsec? (Or, more simply, how many people have I killed in Querious?)
  • What kills have I gotten while flying a Rifter?


If the answer involves infinite scrolling or counting, it's the wrong one (and it's no better than EDK, eve-kill, or BC). If your killboard can offer easy info-searching like that, I would definitely use it.

Hi Petrus - excellent suggestions - some can be answered already surprisingly. I'll mull over how to implement the others. Most can be answered on the stats page as it shows the data in a condensed graphical format over as long a time period as you want.

  • First one - I don't know yet.
  • Find the guy via search. Click on Stats and check out the pie charts, Click on the Frigates wedge in the Losses pie to see how many of each type of frigate the guy has lost.
  • Nice idea with separating out corp kills vs alliance ones. I'll add that.
  • Most expensive kill / loss I can add in directly. Right now these are discoverable by mousing over the highest peaks in the ISK area chart on the stats page.
  • Something cool to add - kills / losses by security system status. By system just requires a way to enter the name in. I'll add something like this to the stats page.
  • This is a cool filter to add to the kills listing - shouldn't be too hard.

Yes, because if I take a contract in the near future to destroy 1 billion in enemy ships before I get paid, I'd rather we all just take our best guess. Smile

One thing that always surprised me on the killboards i've looked at is you can't just search by ship to see just those ships killed. Like if you want to look at every hulk killed to see if they had a tank, etc.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Holy crap, I missed that. That is awesome!

Be aware that that SVG magic you do breaks compatibility with people with IE8 and older, though.

Yeah I figured as much - there is this add-on for those on older IE browsers which solves that issue fortunately: Google Chrome Frame

Added the ability to do this:

  • How many Rifters has this guy even lost?

You can specify a ship type when entering a search by name so that'll default to showing losses associated with the ship type requested for the given entity name, be it a pilot, corporation, alliance or system name.

I've also changed the API Verified image as some hated the original one. Now if I could just figure out what is up with the in-game browser and fonts. Seems like @fontface is a no go there and alternate fonts are being ignored so a crappy looking one ends up there - especially for the text on the upper right side.

Have a look at the stats page. Are there any other types of stats / charts that would be interesting to see? I'm working on adding the highest value ships lost and destroyed to the upper right and considering adding lists of the best and worst pilots when viewing corp stats and then for alliance stats adding in corps as well akin to what appears on the Home page for all.

What else could be informative? Position relative to others in point rankings? Looking for ideas. Here's a sample using my stats page.

http://www.decloaked.com/pilot/Khorkrak/stats Likewise the stats for my previous corp: http://www.decloaked.com/corp/war%20tribe/stats The names are case-insensitive although you may need to add the %20 url encoded value for the space character for some browsers.

As you can see the urls are "restful" - you can easily get to kills, losses, stats and so on via an intuitive path.

I like the detailed info pages.

That's what killboards need to be for: statistical analysis, not e-peen stroking.

Would definitely use it.

Now you just need to get more people to use it so the 'best' and 'worst' sections are more accurate.

Thanks for taking a look at it Cadfael. It's a hard sell to get more people to use it as EVE-Kill and battleclinic have lots of historical data which isn't conveniently available elsewhere. The former does provide an API which could be polled periodically but only 50 kills / half hour are permitted via the more reliable method. The latter site does not provide such an API nor welcomes anyone to pull their data.

The only attraction therefore would be speed, lack of advertisements and more informative statistical / reconnaissance data. So aside from just being yet another killboard this site aims to provide these enhancements. Something as simple as being able to see all past losses of a particular ship type for a given pilot, corporation or alliance is easy to do here. I'd like to add more such useful and distinguishing features.

It would be wonderful if CCP would provide some way to obtain all past kill history for a given entity - even limited to say doing so once a week per web site / developer key or something for a given set of entities. Maybe one day.

Anyway, I'll keep adding on features and enhancing what's there already - next up is wrestling with the IGB and fonts again as it looks the worst in that browser.

being able to login to a killboard, like battleclinic but for private use. BC is the only one I know of like this.


The -FA- killboard has a lot of nice features. But its due to the killboard being on a private site, and is nothing more than a highly modified EDK board. Which is what most big alliances use. (even eve-kill.net im pretty sure)

Its such a pain to make a new one, that most people just get the EDK and then make their own mods or hard code new features into it.
