Pondering Logistics

I'm in a small AU C2/C3 corp running mostly RR Tengus on sleeper sites. We've got a view to bigger things one day (one day!) and it appears that Logistics are pretty popular in both PvE and PvP.

I'd like to start learning how to fly these magnificent beasts, however wonder if it is viable to solo Logi in C3s as I understand that Sleepers are completely unreasonable in regards to their presence. Any pointers and or fittings advice for solo Logistics would be greatly appreciated. Regardless, on the morrow I'll jump into my shiny new Basilisk and take my own advice - just try it.

My advice? Keep flying the RR Tengu gangs. You'd be taking dps away from the fleet and adding only marginally better tanking ability for them. If you want to fly logi in pvp, however, then by all means do so. I'd suggest at least one other basi pilot though, so you can cap chain and keep all the reppers running.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

I know it's not at all required for a C3, the RR Tengus have no issues at all, it's more a matter of getting into the ship and getting a feel for it. It will not be a regular in our Sleepers Ops, but I would like to take it for a spin a few times and not get it popped right off the bat, or run out of cap due to a poor fitting decision etc.

Try it out but you really need a second Basi to get a real feel for how it works. Without the cap chain of 2, you are gimped. I suggest you at least fit a cap transfer in one of the Tengu and leave the rest as RR. You aren't going for efficiency so just go try it out.

Perhaps consider 2 Basi (5/1 fit if you have Logi V) + 6 launcher DPS Tengu? The 2 Basi can cap transfer and give you the range to move about. And go with 6 launcher Tengu fits to up the DPS since the RR won't be needed. As was said, completely unnecessary even up to a C4 but does allow for some Logi experience and your Tengu wil be able to move about freely.

Honestly, why not just take a couple Basi out with some Tengu and a HIC/Falcon for some WH Diving? Best way to get the experience you are looking for...

Yes, if you have to ask yourself the question, just assume we are watching you...

If you need more speed, lose an LSE for an AB or MWD.

If you find you don't have enough grid, drop the shield rig for another Medium Ancillary Current Router.

If you have more than enough grid, ditch the Reactor Control Unit II and go for a Power Diagnostic System II instead.

You'll notice that on its own, it isn't cap stable. You need to run 2 (or more) of them together as "cap-buddies", and by that I mean that the first thing either ship do when they get on grid is target each other and send cap to each other with both of each of their transporters. You need to send both both ways to be cap stable at Logi level 4. If the pilots were logi level 5 then you only need 1 cap transporter on each ship, the other highslot can be an extra shield transporter instead.

For pvp you may prefer combat drones, to deal with any fast ships that race towards the logis.

PvP Logi's work best with 2+ of them.

We use a single logi in both C3 and C4 sites when moving in a large group, it lets us fit completely DPS and resistances.

This is a very cheap scimitar fit, you will need some implants, but if your flying logi you should have genos anyways. These work better for C3s and get 1000 dps stable tank on their own. We use them in C4s also however, you just have to have a little experience in dealing with neuts and aggro.

I used to fly a scimi with C3 fleets. They work just fine solo, though we generally had at least a couple Domi's with RR to help out. It's good to have at least one in case the Sleepers focus fire you.

The tank on the scimitar can handle C3's just fine, unless you mess up the triggers and spawn everything at once, and everything decides to attack you. But that's pretty rare, and you have time to warp out if it does.

Don't have any fits to share, since my files got wiped out, but I can say I did it with Logistics level 4 at the time. So you don't need perfect skills. I don't think I had tech 2 hardeners either. C3's aren't too bad as long as you have a decent sized group, and people who know what they're doing. Best of luck to you.
