This idea has been around since the dawn of EVE. Why CCP never added it is beyond me, guess they feel the logout to login screen was good enough.

It's a user pain point, so I'd say chances are 30% that CCP looks at fixing it.

Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round.

Well. It kind of existed for some time until CCP received enough complaints about people vanishing instantly because people were using a second client ready on on the character select screen to instantly get them out of danger Oops

It's easy enough to get likes, but this wish is a repeating idea, which has never get attention by CCP. I'm wrong this was mentioned but nothing happend.

It would be nice if they finally added this feature as it is only a standard on every other online game where you can have multiple characters on one account.

This has been proposed many times before.

CSM vote.

And obviously nobody is against it, the reason it hasn't been done yet is because it appears to be to much trouble for to little gain.
