Is it still considered an exploit to recycle an alt to avoid the negative consequences of sec status. Was curious since my hauler got jumped by a 19 day old in a tornado at a gate. I seems that would seem to be about minimum time to fly ship and fire guns.

Yes it's still an exploit although, if he ganked you, he cant be recycled can he.

He can't be but likely he soon will be, and the account would probaly have had a bio massed charater who had similar skills and a a very low sec status ....


Not a huge deal overall. It is just when I checked to see if I could possible cash in on the kill rights, I was like 19 days WTF. THen remembered the whole recycle an Alt exploit and was curious if it was still in force.

Getting ganked by a 19 day old character is no indication of foul play whatsoever.

But OPs question is a valid one though. 19 day old tornado ganker does not necessarily be a recycled alt. However if you petition him and he was found doing it on a regular basis, i suspect there will be some sort of action against him.

IIRC if they discover that you have been recycling alts they ban the account outright.

From what I've heard, CCP doesn't bother to wait around for people to petition recycling.

It's probably not very hard to just flag every negative sec status Biomass request for suspicious activity.

The 19d alt is probably just new to the ganking game. Grats on being one of his first victims.

Just becuase you have low sec status and you bio mass you char why should that equal ban what if you really dont want the chaar anymore?

I'd assume that a review by a GM or someone would follow the flagging.

Oh its obviously my fault (or maybe its my wife's since her phone call is why I flipped on autopilot). Unfortunalty, T1 haulers just can not withstand much punishment. I needed more cargo room and did not feel like buying a deep space hauler at the time (I assume they are actually worse since they will draw everyones attention, and they are not dirt cheap as the T1s).

If I had my Orca in postion I may have made the run in that and it would have scooted through since it would have scanned as empty.

But all that is just theoretical, as was the intial question, there is no doubt it is a purpose built gank alt the only question is it one of a stream of recylcles or buddy program burn out alts, again more theretical then actual sicne I reported him and will never know.

pretty sure they do nothing about it. I once petitioned a bunch of them (to thin out the competition Pirate ) and i got the ' we'll look into it' mail and they are probably out there to this day.

these guys even had sequential names (like gankerdude1, gankerdude2, gankerdude3 etc new one every few weeks) so i dont think i was actually mistaken

with the free 51-days accounts i don´t realy see why recycling is an issue or even considered a problem (that counts for players aswell as for ccp)
