Actually, having listened to the whole thing now I'm convinced it's just bad acting, and a fake. It's a recording made after the incident, made to become something of an EVE meme.
The kill is legit. The recording which appears four days after the incident, is not.

The acting of the corp mates is okay, but the acting of the victim is terrible.

Not just him.

That was his first loss. And it taught him an expensive lesson. If he had ventured into lowsec at least once he would probably not have lost as much.

No he lost a regular T1 Phoon in Low Sec. Mostly the same modules as the sh*t fit one just T2.
