Vengeance can do any L2 and most L3 missions without problem. And it's not even "that" slow :). In addition it's great for small deadspace actions (util high for offline probe launcher).

Retribution is great for belt ratting. Used it against Sanshas in Providence.

Take a set of Multifrequenz T1 crystals and you can stay in belts forever :). Use the empty high for offline T2 Salvager if you get an officer spawn. After some time you can replace the low slots with True Sansha stuff which you might find.

PS: Is Providence still NRDS?

I have heard of people using assault frigs in Wolf-Rayet wormholes (bonuses to sig radius, armor resists and small gun damage).

I regularly use an active shield tank Enyo that pushes 330DPS or so for blitzing L3's. Depending on the mission can be quite a bit faster than say a Myrm. It's also way more fun. L2's are easymode for an AF and I am sure an Enyo/Ishkur can easily run some L4's, but would obviously not be the best isk/hour ratio...

I've used an ishkur w/ dual drone damage mods for most small deadspace sites. Pretty much like a poor mans/noobs ishtar I guess.
It does pretty well, just burn away from everything and let the drones go wild, nice mobile ship for spamming lowsec deadspace sites looking for faction spawns.

There should be a rather awesome pic here

I totaly love AFs

In my Retribution with about 250 DPS I am doing all lvl 3s (like wow cosmos are so easy??)..it is fast and easy.
My friends in corp also have trained AFs and when we are online in 2 pilots minimlay, we are doing lvl 4s...also very quick and without any problem.

I ve never had problems with PVE AF...Tho I wouldnt use it for WHs..I am using drake for C1 and dont think that AF would make it...still most of my tank is speedtank and dont know how good sleepers are in catching small targets...but I guess that when they can kill my t2 light drones in few secs then AF wouldnt be problem for them(unles you can kill all the frigs before you goes down).

I liked the Ishkur because drones don't take ammo and can change damage types. I have it on good authority that the Retribution is pretty amazing too.

Retribution is the best AF in the game now it has 2 mids and didnt sacrifice any other slots to get that second mid.

my fav lvl 4 pve frig is the harpy after the rebalancing, 330 dps, 95% kin resist with a web, ab, and medium booster it can run down anything and take out a lot of stuff faster than a drake in most cases

then i took the same concept and applied it to an asb merlin, it was even more fun to take into lvl 4's, i've done gone berserk in the harpy and never even needed to turn on my booster, and then i did gurista extraveganza in the merlin and usually pulled half room aggro with some friends along

as long as you fly smart you can take a moderately fit frig (t1/t2) into lvl 4's and survive just fine

from what i can tell the enyo is another fun blaster AF that can be setup pretty good for pve

Running AF's in L1's, 2's, and even 3's is an interesting time.
Not the most profitable, but great practice for actually "flying" your ship.

If you ever want to fly small ship PvP, some of the things you learn running AF's in PvE can be used in PvP.
Some things have to be "unlearned" like merely orbiting at long ranges, but you get to understand angular velocity and the value of speed and sig size.

Also, ratting in low sec belts in an AF can be fun.
You can take a PvP fit Ishkur or Enyo out into belts and melt Serp's and Gurista's easily, and if you fancy, tangle with some pilots.

Assault Frigates are a lot of fun to fly and you can do with them low-sec and 0.0 ratting, smaller plexes and wormholes... yes, with a well fitted wolf you can easily kill sleeper in class 1 wormholes and with some more efforts even in class 2 wormholes solo.
