Pretty simple suggestion, he have too many T1 industrials that perform basically the same function.

Split them into two groups, one group has about 1/2 to 2/3 the cargo capacity of the other, but a *lot more* PG so they can fit a decent tank (also, buff the PG on T2 indies).

there are allready t2 industrials fullfilling this role.

the different t1 are there for different prices (and performance (read: slot layout).

Meh... not really.
I assume you are referring to ships like the Impel
It still is rather thin skinned, and lacking in PG.

Currently for runs around Jita, of relatively low volume and high value items, I typically use a Shield tanked BC with cargohold expanders (Hyperion, Mega, Apoc, rokh).
Swap out cargo expanders for DCs/ reinforced bulkheads/PDUs (for the 5% shield boost, depending one what gives the best EHP boost) according to excess cargospace.

A hyperion can have nearly 3k m3 of cargo space, and 5 shield mods + its base 7.5k HP shield. (And I like to rig a hyperion with shield rigs, moar DPS in missions)

A Rokh gets over 2k m3 with all cargohold expanders,
An Apoc get 3.7k m3 (and I often shield rig that one too)
And while its a bit expensive to use for just this purpose, a rattlesnake gets 2.8k m3 of cargospace, its shield buffer is ridiculous.

I'm just proposing something that can transport similar volumes of goods with a similar buffer as T1 BSs, at a lower cost and skill requirement (as you forgo offensive capabilities/ the versatility of a BS)

1. those are all BS, not BC.

3k m3 is great ... but what about when you need to move 5k, or 10k, or 20k (e.g. setting up a POS)? THAT is what the industrials are for.

Fact of the matter is though, that there is "overlap" because each race has two (or five, in the case of the Gallente), and there's only "so much" that you can do with a T1 hauler insofar as making them "wildly different".

16K EHP, just over 6k cargo. Sure, it doesn't match the sheer HP of a battleship, but that's not its role...

Granted, this isn't a battle-badger ... but you get the idea.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Industrials are in need of an overhaul, it's true.

Really, every transportation style ship should be focused on three areas: cargo space, speed, and defenses. Naturally, this suggests 3 types of transportation ships (one that specializes in each.)

Woo!

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that they're all currently medium or capital sized. What about small transports? Or large ones? I'd suggest every race gets a small/medium/large transport for each specialty (speed/cargo/defenses.)

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

Greetings

I think with the current direction CCP is going with the rebalancing to fit ship roles, that this will most likely get looked at in a future iteration. We just have to wait and see...then rip it to shreds
