Gate Gun Fairy Tale: CCP Saving Oblivous Hi Sec Dwellers From Themselves

In light of the proposed gate gun changes to eliminate gate camping to make lo sec easier to enter, I wish to share a parable.

There once lived 3 hi seccers who wanted to venture into lo sec to reap the rich rewards.

The fist hi seccer fit a drake with no prop mod, pure PVE fit, and blindly jumped into Tama.

Pirate Camp: "Welcome to Tama! A fiery death awaits you"
Hi Seccer #1: *stunned silence*

The hi seccer decloaks and is nailed by the gate camp with no chance to run. He quietly leaves.

The second hi seccer noticed that his trade route had a shortcut saving 7 jumps if he went through Tama. He fit his badger II with max cargo expanders and no tank and blind jumped the Tama gate.

Pirate Camp: "Welcome to Tama! A fiery death awaits you"
Hi Seccer #2: "Not on my watch!" *begins to align out*

But he doesn't warp fast enough and is nailed by the gate camp.

The third hi seccer fit noticed how he could make billions by doing DED sites in lo sec. He did some research and fit a PVE tengu with a cloaking device in case a hostile entered local. He used a friend/alt to pre-scout the gate in a shuttle to verify it was safe. He even checked the map to look for where the pirates were camping and opted to enter lo sec via Ikoskio instead of Tama.

He safely farmed his way to riches because he played smart, and Darwin rewards those who adapt to the challenge of their environment.

If he had fit, cargo expanders and MLUs this never would have happened.

Isn't Charles Darwin dead? Wouldn't EVE be the one rewarding people who play smart and adapt to challenges that their environments place on them.

Also, the proposed Gate Gun mechanics are silly. They simply encourage more blobbing, and make even Freighters safe if the camp isn't big enough.

LS is not HS. We don't need Illegal LS PvP to be determined by the same kind of DPS race against the clock that Suicide ganks are.

I find it more fitting to the universe of EVE that criminals get shot at by gate guns. But they should only do so at gates that lead into high sec, then those who love to gate camp can still do so at gates that lead into other low sec systems or null sec. Doesn't really make sense to have guns at those ones anyway. Personally I think they should have NPC navy ships randomly patrol lowsec gates that connect to high sec. Killable of course but enough of an issue to be a bother to criminals.
I don't think it's right that a battleship can sit on a gate and tank the guns forever while smartbombing everyone who passes by.

Where is the sec in lowsec? What does low signify? It appears there are those who would like to turn lowsec into nullsec for people without a hundred friends. I would like to see the gate guns strong enough to prevent any gate camping.

It's a soon to be Trader's paradise, full of new markets now that there's some security against mindless gate camping. Plus, mission runners, site scanners, Planeteers, and I-wanna-own-a-cap peoples will also start migrating there in greater numbers.

It should be interesting.

If gatecamps become more difficult to do, there may be an increase in traffic through losec, more traffic means more targets customers to be taken advantage of, but only if hisec dwellers realise that losec can be considerably more rewarding than hisec albeit with an increase in risk of dying.

As it is at the moment most hisec dwellers stay out of losec because going there is pretty much akin to visiting a shooting range while wearing a target on your back, you're pretty much guaranteed to die unless you're really really on top of your game

Well well makeing low sec gate camping more of a pain i see why there doing it thou.

yes that gate is in low sec but leads to high sec those gates should have more fire power the other low sec gates.

you low sec'ers cry about how next to no one like low sec well look at yourself for that reason. Whats the point of jumping in when there a good shot of buttclown's camping a gate for easy kills.

Yes yes "use a cloak" that what you like to say but when people start useing more ships with out cloaks you get better fights.

personaly gate camping low sec gate leading to high just shows me one thing you suck and if you -10 on gate your going to get your ship shot full of wholes hahahahah. That -10 standing going to start hurting you now aint it.

apparently it has been renovated so as to look just like hihgsec only with less missions, less players and now less reason to live there. Gee I hope that was the goal of this patch.

i can't wait till 2-man gatecamps are replaced by sentry carriers repping and assisting an instalocking HIC

No real instalock on gates...

Null bubbles...
instalock ceptors... etc


New changes = no bubbles...
ista lock ceptors (so wtf is the point of the guns and etc)
Can't have a LONG fight... must be over and done with fast before the guns become TOO powerful to tank... ********...
