Real Money Scamming - Totally Unacceptable

There comes a point when scamming is just wrong and unacceptable. The time is when people are scammed with their own RL money and there is nothing you can even do about it. CCP open allows this, its real life theft.

If people get scammed with ingame items, like silly mods or buy scams they fair enough because you can at least check those.
But when it comes to renting space there is nothing you can do at all, no checks, no contracts nothing.

When i spend £100 to say buy plex legally, thinking im setting up my eve empire then that converted ISK is then stolen jist like that then theres something sick and wrong about this game. Thats personal theft. and thats where crap like this needs to stop.

Tribal Band Has offered to return the isk...which is good of them

yes i am extremely anger, and if i saw the person in RL i would ram his head into a wall many many times. I feel like doing this to CCP right now actually.

I think this has left me feeling a bit sad and angry and only leaves me with one choice but to leave the game for good after a number of years. I wish the scammers TRIBAL BAND good luck with the 3 bill isk, if 3 bill isk is something your so desperate to have then i hope it makes you happy.




When you turned real money into PLEX, you turned it into an ingame item. Nobody stole your money, you lost the item/s you bought with it and you're the only one to blame.

How the feck am I to blame! See this is exactly whats wrong with the game!! The money was sent directly to the alliance holding corp not a person as well.. But hey its this attitude that stop ppl staying

And also the plex was paid for by real money, not gridning in game, by plexing or ratting or mining, REAL MONEY!

That you got scammed is unfortunate... for you. But you didn't get scammed out of RL money. You got scammed out of in-game currency. Not the same thing at all.

You should actually petition about this, not sure the way you used your RL money converted in isk was the wiser and that actually CCP will do something about since it's your choice doing so.
This is a personal opinion, never ever accept to rent space to whatever/whoever.
Participation for alliance facilities ok, paying some alliance poco tax over 10% is also ok, pay billions for something that never belongs to you and can actually make you loose everything you have faster than you got there, no.

This scam involved in-game items, not real money. It's all legit. Next time, use the normal, safe channels.

So what you're saying is that no RL money was scammed at any point. What happened was you bought game time tokens(PLEX), traded them for ISK and then lost that money or lost the tokens before you sold them. You traded the RL money for an in-game item succesfully, then lost that item/ISK in an unrelated transaction. That is what you're trying to say?

I agree but then how are you ever going to rent space? I know there actually some legit renters out there...thats the problem you cannot do any real checks, no contracts of something goes wrong etc. Mayeb i should of used chribba as a thrid party

Which are? Also ingames items i paid for by REAL MONEY i dont care if it became an igame item. I didnt grind the isk or mine it that would be a bit different.

Nobody stole your RL money, you paid that to CCP. Its a shame you got scammed for the isk, maybe lookinto a way of getting even with them?

It doesn't matter what it was purchased with, you weren't scammed out of money. Once you purchase a PLEX, it's an ingame item & is treated as such.

EDIT: Your real money was not sent directly to the alliance, it was sent directly to CCP in exchange for an ingame item & it is now their money.

I understand OP being pissed off but real life threats is a line that shall not be crossed. I lost count how many alliances I've been a part off when somebody at the top ran out with the alliance money. To me, is not a question of *if* it happens, but rather *when* it's gonna happen. Way too many ISK at the top, somebody will always get greedy.

So I suppose you think anyone who purchases a plex and is transporting it through space deserves a refund if they get popped and someone takes their plex?

I'm sorry to hear you were scammed. There is the sell order forum where legit renters agreements are offered, and people provide feedback. Also- if 3 bill is hard to come by- join an existing corp with 0.0/WH access until you have enough on your own. DO NOT pay for the "privilege"- you pay with PvP participation, and don't accept any offers to transport your stuff.

That said- posting about it on the forum is going to get you flamed twelve ways to Sunday. People like to harvest forum tears (unless they themselves are crying about the latest nerf/buff- currently barges). Welcome to the piranha tank.

and you know whats its not really the matter of £100 as such. its just the whole non morality of it all. I mean yeah its fine a few stuff in game, but you know its just a bit sick.

Tell me if someone stole £100 or you, what would you do? SERIOUSLY?? and i dont mean in game i just mean generally? What would you do? What would you really think? I mean you could still havea chance to get it back, but even worse you cant in eve, and CCP are willing to do nothing about it either. Which makes them just as bad.

I wonder what would happen if this was looked at legally? from CCP point of view, allowing this to happen?

Irrelevant. They were in-game items. No real money was lost — you got exactly what you wanted from your RL purchase, and then you squandered it on your own accord. You lost ISK (or whatever); not cash.

There's NPC 0.0 space. No neet to pay rent, just fight your way trough. You gonna need friends tho.
