Yeah, just do the work at work. EVE Online is a game and you shouldn't jeopardize your way of bringing in the cash because of it.

but tbh you should work @ work

I do work at work LOL checking eve market sites and developing business plans is work. Whats really ****** up is my boss put the ban on eve sites yet he looks at **** all day WTF oh and WOW sites I dont honestly know which is worse.

Your boss's job is not to work, but to make sure *you* work. If he works or not is irrelevant.

I think this person may be your boss at work...may want to check Roll

They see that you're going around their block and you'll find yourself on EVE quite more often... at home.

I browse EVE during my lunch breaks, but on the clock I'm working.

Can't tell you how happy I am to be working for people who aren't complete ******* retards. No one here cares where you're shitposting so long as the work gets done.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

So your complaint is that the folk in the IT department are working at work? If they care about network security, they'll have already blocked personal VPN tunneling.

If they went to the trouble to block access to Eve sites they are already onto you. Sad that you are so addicted to Eve you would endanger your job for it.

Its funny everyone says just do your work but the thing is I actually do work and I have been promoted since i bring in more money to this company then anyone else yet they feel they have to pull a power trip.

Update: Everyone in my office is bitching since they blocekd facebook, twitter and gmail but that didnt bother me since I dont do facebook or twitter or gmail.

I work for the IT department. We had our own solution. We set up our own server outside the firewalls and we can connect to anywhere anytime. No one else can use the server except us server guys. All the regular dupes have to follow the company line...

Yup, my work blocks gmail, any gaming site, and many others. My phone is a godsend, letting post at work.

Agreed. When I got my phone, my work computer had that K9 Web Protection crap so i could check my email, MSN, Yahoo, and wikipedia. It's since been replaced, but it's nice to have my phone still, just in case.

Two options:
- Get a smartphone with data plan, use it for personal stuff or tether your personal laptop to it. This is what I did when working for a credit bureau who, to prevent leaking of customers' personal information, had very restrictive internet policies.
- Find a new job where they only care whether you are getting your work done: my current employer is like that, you can see devs watching netflix or playing pandora on their desks while working Bear

Whatever you do, don't use corporate resources for personal stuff, it's kinda unprofessional. No matter how long you are going to be working in a place, earn a good reputation for yourself. It will pay way more than any raise they may offer you. Cool

This topic comes up from time to time.

Use your smartphone or a cellular data capable tablet to access personal stuff when you are @ your workplace. End of story.

I specialize in enterprise class security of networks. I get paid large sums of money to find out exactly who is stealing from the company.

Five minutes on a game site is stealing. Period. There is no grey area at all. Those minutes are being paid to you for work. Not non-work.

So they now have logs on your activity. Now they are going to monitor every non-work related site you go to.

Go ahead and connect to your phone and drop your workstation off the network. This can be tracked as well. And in most companies I work for, a massive violation and breach of network security.

You can try anything you want to out smart us. But we are going to know every time you try to go around our security.

Simple solution. Quit your job. Let someone else that will spend the time working take it. Because honestly. You are now on the short list. When and if the cuts come, your name will be high on the list.
