Well if getting ganked in your hulk isnt enough my IT department at work has now blocked Eveonline websites. Does anyone know any workarounds to access websites if they are blocked by yout IT department. The website blocked is Eveonline.com but I still can acess the fforums and other sites like battleclinic. I believe I can access the forums because they begin with //forums.eveonline but the main website forget about it.

Yup, my work blocks gmail, any gaming site, and many others. My phone is a godsend, letting post at work.

If eveonline.com used a dedicated IP address instead of a shared one, you'd probably be able to access the site just by typing it's IP address into the address bar of your browser. Unfortunatley this isn't the case (I tried).

You could try a web-based proxy, but they'd probably start blocking those too eventually. The way I see it is that your employers wouldn't have blocked Eve without a good reason, i.e. they don't want you on there during work hours. Maybe you should just accept that?

Excellent Ideas Proxy on a stick sounds like the best idea I will try that out.

There's a gazillion things that could be done. Setting a proxy in your home pc, using usb sticks to reboot work pc into different os, connecting work pc to a 4g usb stick, using a non-corporate device of your own with your own 4g connection, etc....

Which one to use depends on your company policies. If you could get fired for booting from a USB stick, then don't do that... The safest way (for posting at least) is a web capable phone.

Your boss's job is not to work, but to make sure *you* work. If he works or not is irrelevant.

By work do you mean school???

If any employee was on eveonline.com I think most boss's would jsut fire thier ass not block th website!

Workaround - DO SOME WORK!

Or get a phone/pad to use on the wifi connection and access what ever you want

Bribe one of the router dudes to create you a tunnel?

As for reconfiguring your machine with a portable proxy, our IT guys have disabled any such user capability. We have a "standardized desk top" and cannot even create shortcuts, outr browsers won't remember passwords, etc, etc.. Network config or rooting in any form is simply not possible. They also key off the ARP cache to block traffic. Not only that, all "suspect" traffic is logged in an "eveil no good lazy worker using the Internet" file. People have been fired for creative network config.

Now, I have VPN access from home and often work from there. Then I can have my evil semi-AFK mining ops ongoing while I field calls and resolve problems ... Ask for VPN so you can "work" from home, mine in EvE and drink beer, all at the same time.

Use Google as a proxy, Google translate works fairly well for browsing blocked sites.

Alternatively, do what you're getting paid for, some work.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Sounds like where I use to work at. Even me being an administrator, I didnt have access to make shortcuts and stuff... how does that make any sense?? Only the actual programmers could make changes like that. It sucked, we would go run tickets to find out we have to tell them, sorry we cant do that, the programmers do... Made us look like incompetent idiots...

Oh dude, bad idea.

Let me explain what has happened.

Your boss when to the IT department about your bandwidth usage. They gave her/him a report at which point IT was told to block any non-work related things. If you go around the block you'll soon find yourself on the block.
