Been playing for a year, about to unsub due to constant hostility and negativity at each turn.

So EVE, why so hostile and angry?

Maybe it's your face. It's making me more hostile and angry by the minute...

I dunno really, though. Maybe you're just talking to the wrong people.....?

If you don't like the conversation, find a new one.

EVE is real.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

Anonymity coupled with the potential for violence and abuse that is not punished by the traditional safety mechanisms that society put in place allows people to express their true nature. What you're seeing when people gank/pirate/steal/insult each other is how people really are. When the girl at the coffee shop smiles as she hands you your latte is simply an act of wearing a mask.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Because there are all these people who think EVE should be hello kitty online.

That's why I'm negative.

Gotta remember mate this generation have grown up without any repercussions to what they say an do. With social media protecting them from anything they say. So forums allow them to anonymously spew hate an teen angst at anyone they choose in complete safety. Where as in old days, you had to back up what you said because there was no anonymity of the internet. So today its all they know.

Join an NPC corp (NOT Perkone) that is probably the most angst ridden pos in gaming history. Scope is really nice though, lot of fun an sometimes even intelligent conversations there. Pluss alot of people will help out.
Dont take EvE forums too seriously, they are every bit as feral as wow forums, an probably worse. As here they actually believe they are hardmen.

We call them forum warriors because that's all they are.

Then you're simply either weak, or unaware of your true potential.

I read somewhere the average age of an EVE player is 25 or something so why do they act like teenagers.

I'm on EVE and sometimes I feel like I'm on 4chan or Twitter.

Hell, didn't one of the developers say you should be at least a little angry while playing?

This is Eve, if everyone started getting along and having Tea Parties, I wouldn't keep playing.

That being said, there are fun people to play with, and they are nice (while out of character so to speak). Perhaps you just didn't meet the right group yet.

Finally, forums are the center of hate and anger for any game; once again, most people here are probably good people in RL, but in here, most all are sociopaths...so HTFU, don't take things personal and play the game...

No, soy Mexican mocha.

Also, if the girl at the coffee stand played EVE it would be pretty hot. Just saying.

Yea you should play Orbiter instead. That's like the only game about space that doesn't have weapons. Or wait for Hello Kitty Online Space Vegetarian Adventure.
