Escapism from escapism

So, I was thinking, for many people video games are a form of escapism. EVE is an MMO, a video game where you're inhabiting the same world as a few hundred thousand other people.

How many people come home from work or school, and login to EVE, and then promptly pick up some missions, and then proceed to be anti-social and avoid all contact with other humans.

How many people use missions as means of escapism, to escape from what is already in itself escapism?

Dont see how eve is anti social. Unless your playing it on your own, in which case your doing it wrong.

Well your not but try interact with your locals. I log on and talk to people from around the world every day on voice comms and in chat, thats pretty social. Iv made friends and visited friends all around europe that i met in games. 2 of them turned out to be really hot women also (shocker).

Id love to play Eve more tbh but with work i get on for like 1 hour every day except for weekends, weekends i tend to go out with my friends if something is happening, or i just play Eve. Most women have terrible standings set for me :( ha.

But when i do get on to play i only log in to pew pew. I havnt PVE'd in years and dont plan on starting ever again!

This topic probably sounded better in your head before you typed it out. Now it's just a jumble of words that don't really mean anything. Escapism from escapism? What kind of rubbish is this? The game itself is escapism. Choosing to play solo is not escapism, choosing to play is.

I just met a girl, but she doesn't like me because she didn't know we met. If she knew we met, I'd probably have to kill her.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I just met a girl, she dropped on my head in a Drake to kill me. She failed, so I asked her for a dance.

One more attempt to tell other people how to play the game they pay for.

Since Eve is the game that tries to be as nasty and mean as real life, it's not very good for escapism.

When they set you to red it means they're playing hard to get.

Is that better than when they set you to blue?

If they set you to orange they just want to use you for LP D:

I'd set you to blue any day. Rawr.

Yup, thinly veiled "you are playing eve wrong" thread.

Are you trying to be existential? Because you aren't doing very well.

Players that do missions do so because that is what they pay to play. That's their game. If you don't like it, then line up with everyone else that hates something, both real and imagined.

Avoiding other people should be pretty far down the list of reasons to play and mmo.

You can solo in eve, come home from work and run missions until you puke. Your options are pretty much endless.

Don't come to the forums asking though, the same people who shout sandbox and do whatever you want, are the same people telling you your doing it wrong.

Play the way you want until you feel your ready to move on to something new.
