I would like to buy an corp that is dead, no owner, from CCP. I would also like to buy a corp that is own by a banned account/toon.

1. Use the Nex to list all Dead Corps
2. When you want to bid on a Dead Corp bid 1 Aur, auction will start.
3. Auction will last 30 days.
4. Winning Character will transfer to corp and take ownership.

Have NEX list all active auctions.

Generally speaking, the NEX store is a bad thing. So no.

Although, making dead corps' names available for reuse might not be a bad idea (after so long of inactivity or something)

Making Dead corps available for resale would be a good idea since it is pretty hard to create a corp and find a name that doesn't exist already.

Although there might be a problem;

for example if you want to reopen a corp that has been closed, the previous owner probably still owns the shares, so he might be able to retake the corp anytime he wants to.

My idea would be to make it possible to sell the shares of your closed corp and the buyer then can reopen the corp.Big smile

What do you guys think?

only problem you have is history.... Lets say Corp X was scammed.. and you have a gazillion contracts listed form them that were fraudulent.... and you have a CEO listed there also.... or a person who opened the corp.... you are effectivly deleting that info

Problem No2.... lets say person A has a dead corp on his employment history.... you buy it reopen it and turn it into boting/iskselling corporation..... Does that mean person A was in that corp....

You are tempering in history.... i do agree on names.... for long dead corp they cound just swich the name to "Random corp registration number XXXXXX" so to free up the names..... doesn't tamper with history... but gives you that name you always wanted....

Problem Z (you actually cannot work around this problems) a person who started eve in 2003 and played a tral account and has a corp can at any moment reactivate his account and take control of it.... (unlike some other MMOs where they kill stuff after a few years)

eve has characters or chars....leave the toons in the other games.

eve can and has unbanned people before. They may come back at some point.

CCP can also not auction off a name for any price. Only the owner can set the price. Thats on CCP's side of the license agreement. Who mentioned above can come back. They come back, name is gone and there is a case for breach of contract. MMO's by sop are first come first served for names and the name holder can expect full protection until the day the game dies and the server(s) shutdown.

Simpler solution:
Just run a . (dot) like everyone else does at end of the name.

"Toons" is perfectly valid.

Can you kindly show where in the EULA it states that a player has creative rights to a name? Anything created by players in other MMOs is owned by those MMOs. I've not heard of a single case of this "breach of contract" you mention popping up in other MMOs or EVE.

Running a . or (dot) at the end of the name is a cheap way to get the name you want and personally, I think it is lazy and looks bad.

Just make it player based.
Idk how it works but you can just have option were players release the name of a corp.
That way the corp history doesn't change with it just the name.
You can many just give the old corp that's releasing the name a generic or number for a name

You should only be able to buy closed corps. If a corp only has permanently-banned members remaining, it could be closed automatically.

Problem: this would create a rush to snap up what few remaining "good" corp names and tickers so they could be sold off. Consider the market for domain names.

Umm... I'm pretty sure you can use the name of dead corps already. I have. My corp was created about 3 weeks ago and I found that killmails already exist for this corp name on eve-kill and battleclinic from about 2 years ago.

Really? I did not know this. But there is one corp still owned by an banned account and there is no way I can get it. So CCP just boot the account out of the corp and it should open it up for us paying customers.
