When typing a large text reply (possibly due to quoting someone), you often end up with all your typed text lost. What gets posted is a half baked version of your typing from some time ago, if any of that at all. I had this issue so many times now and it seems to happen more often then not.

For whatever reason, drafts are posted instead of the text typed in its final version.

I noticed two things that could be part of this issue.

1) Draft save messages (every 30 seconds or so) are shown over (yes you read that right) the text control your typing and possibly clicking in. This is VERY BAD, unnecessary an terribly annoying. There is plenty of space elsewhere on the page where such a message can be shown without interfering with the focus of the poster, mouse clicks, or the visibility of the text underneath it.

You won't believe this as it is so obvious an error, the message contains a link that can be clicked by accident if your typing and editing your text. Why would a user want to click on a link that states the text as is, is just saved? What could possibly a benefit? Auto-save should address the issue of loosing connection and coming back without loss of text, nothing else! It is not a versioning tool!

2) When submitting a post, a similar message pops up...again over the typed text (BAD BAD BAD). This time it attends the user that there is a draft available and if the user just clicks post, it seems the draft is posted instead or an empty page instead of the proper text. Again, this message is totally unnecessary and also can cause loss of the final text.

No I did not click preview, i clicked post after i found my text worthy of being posted.
This does not make sense to any human under any context and if you add such a feature, do it properly, not like this.

It could be many things, like error-nous key capture due to a wrong default focus or whatnot. The auto-save feature as is, causes more problems then it can ever hope to solve. If i can turn it off somewhere I will, as it is the most annoying experience on the forums, next to trolls and being ignored when trying to get something addressed. It really makes customers feel hated with a passion!

(yes, this message itself was almost lost too, lucky i made a copy in notepad before posting).

I am serious!

How to reproduce:

1. Quote someones post;
2. Type a bunch of text, wait for the draft saved message to appear;
3. Press the Post button;

You now see not the text you just typed, but the quoted text you started with!

4. Press post;

You now lost all your text, congratulations, i hope you made a copy before pressing post the first time.
If you had a copy, you can paste it over the text to you presented after pressing post the first time!

Editing your post after it is saved on the forum works too, again, you need a copy on your clipboard!

It is even worse then I reported.

Just halfway typing a post, the text changed from half written to almost blank.
It is as if some of the keys i was pressing, like backspace, has a special meaning to the auto popup.

This means that while typing a post, at any random time you can loose your whole text due to this most annoying feature that cannot be turned off. And still no word from CCP...telling.
