The Animatrix style would be really fitting. It wouldn't necessarily be a full-length movie, but the disjointed vignette style would echo the Chronicles we already have and allow the film to skip through time and touch on a number of historically significant events (which, again, is in keeping with some of the Chronicles).

And CCP has proven they're much better at CGI shorts than live action, so there's that.
