Obtaining Median Prices

What's the most efficient way of getting the median prices for all items on a given day. The eve-central dumps can be used to do this by downloading a dump for a given day once a week lets say but they've become gargantuan so that's obnoxious to deal with. I'm looking for a far less resource intensive way.
