Anomaly questions

I was doing some low sec anomalies and didn't get much in the few sites I did (I know random is random etc) but I just want to check I wasn't doing anything wrong or missing something.

Does the OPE and high end loot drop from any rat (necessitating looking through all the wreckage) or is there a named rat that has a chance to spawn at the end? Do I need to shoot any of the structures? (I was doing Guristas Rally Points mostly - couldn't find answers after doing a search)

Also I'm still a little puzzled as to the difference between anomalies (I assume these are the 3/10, 4/10, sanctums etc that are mentioned) and combat sites that have to be fully scanned down.

Thanks in advance for any info :)

Faction loot is dropped only by the faction spawn that may or may not happen at the end of a site (Ralley Point). Rarely the site will escalate into a combat site which has a decent chance for the Overseer to drop Deadspace mods. Combat sites that are scanned down have a moderate chance to drop good loot by the faciton spawn or overseer.

Anomalies are very random in that sometimes you will get faction spawns a couple times in a row, and sometimes you have to clear 30 to 40 sites to get one spawn. Combat sites that are scanned down and escalations have a higher chance to drop good loot.

anoms have a chance to spawn a faction spawn (dread guristas something) wich may or may not have faction loot. they can also trigger an escalation which will lead you through several sites, each having a faction spawn.
signatures usually have an ovrseer or an overseer structure which often drops faction or deadspace loot (gist modules), some of them can also trigger an escalation.

Anomalies are found without the need for a probe scanner, they are easier to find but have greater risk vs reward since noone needs to scan you down esp in low sec.

Signatures are scanned down using a probe scanner have better risk vs reward (potentially), and someone hunting has to find you or the site first, not safe at all just less obvious.

Faction spawns will drop the loot, generally although some structures will as well, check eveopedia for information. And yes they are mostly random.

Hope this helps.

Whether you get it from an anomaly escalation or scan down a DED combat site, its quite likely that they have the same chance for loot, I doubt CCP would make it different due to :effort:

Should also note that DED sites are guaranteed to have overseer effects.

Thanks for the replies :)

I did a little more reading (some of the evelopedia pages seem to have more info than I remember since the last time I read them) and I think I cleared up some of my confusion. I was getting anomalies and DED rated complexes mixed up since there are 10 classes of anomalies as well as the x/10 rating system for rated plexes.

So DED rated plexes > unrated complexes > anomalies in terms of general 'value?' Is this pretty much correct?

One other question - do the escalations you get from the unrated sites and anomalies escalate into just regular DED rated plexes or are they a separate thing entirely (ie the only way to get them is to get an escalation)?

It seems like high and low sec anomalies are sorta not worth doing with only a small chance of named spawn or escalation at the end and the scanned sites are generally better. I also get the impression that doing the anomalies in null is much better since the bounties make it much more worthwhile. Looks like low sec anomalies could use a buff of some sort (better bounties or salvage or something without changing the high end drop rate) - at least on par with a L3 (they're pretty bad considering the risk IMO).

Anywho thanks again for the responses.
