question: t2 racial ships

a quick question for the forums - specifically, those with more experience flying t2 than me (that is - any at all).

I'm in the process of deciding what t2 ships to skill into. Role-wise, I'm mainly interested in:

interdiction/tackle (inty, dictor, hictor)

scouting/espionage (covops)

'dirty' fighting ships (bombers, maybe ewar)

I was leaning Caldari because their lineup seemed solid and ECM seems to be the most universally effective ewar type, but many people seem to feel that the Minmatar have much better ships for some of the above roles - in particular, I've been hearing a lot about the claw, saber and broadsword.

Thus, the question: for these t2 ship types, Caldari or Minmatar? Or Amarr or Gallente, for reasons that may have escaped me? Also, reasons why? Thanks for any replies.

Inty - Caldari are arguably the worst, but it's completely preference. Inties are fairly balanced but are very quickly losing much of their role to faction frigates. Gallente has fairly superb interceptors out of the choices.

Dictor - Gallente is worst here. It really doesnt matter as you're just bubbling anyway, but the Sabre is preferred in every situation.

Hictor - I have the least amount of experience with these. In small gangs, Phobos/broadsword are considered okay/good, but every one of them will work. With large gangs, the Devoter/Onyx shine and the Broadsword is a close second, with the phobos seeing little action.

Covops - doesn't matter. Helios can solo stupid people.

Bombers - Manticore/purifier are able to solo but it is very taxing as a player to do so. Basically you just want lots of mids on your bomber, and after that it's all about what damage type you want to do.

Ewar - You're talking recons for this, which are very diverse. Gallente have damps which are meh in MOST situations, and focus on super long points which are exceptional in a fleet. Caldari obviously are the most common with their jammers. Amarr have the pilgrim which is basically just for killing ratters, and the Curse which is one of the most feared ships in the game in a fleet. Minnies are all about webs, as the target painter bonus is generally useless.

I'm partial to the Amarr ewar ships because of their ridiculous neuting capabilities. I'd really urge you to try them out.

I'm a big fan of Gallente/Minmatar recons, I have flown the Minmatar ones extensively, and have recently trained into Gallente (Still haven't had a good chance to play with em) they are excellent ships and their ability to tackle at long range is extremely powerful.

For small gang/large fleet work, the Lachesis/Huginn are where its at.

(Also Minmatar recons are a perfect counter to Tengus, and generally make range control ships' lives very unpleasant)

Thanks for all the constructive replies! Now I'm mostly leaning Minmatar, but I'm kinda torn between Amarr and Minmatar on the subject of recons and hictors. Seems like having a mightier tank (Amarr) might be better for an interdictor, since they can't be rr'ed while dicting? And I'm on the fence between Amarr and Minmatar recons because both of their abilities seem valuable, but people seem to feel that Minmatar recons have been less relevant for some time now, since the end of the nano age. Thoughts?

Quick note on HICs

Having flown Dictors in low sec and null sec I would say that actually I have found while all 4 are pretty much as good in null, although shields will more often fit with logis. The 2 armor HICs are superior for low sec camps due to the ability to fit SeBos without losing tank, remember in low sec your point is a targeted weapon so faster lock is required.

I guess my point is where do you see yourself flying in null I would say broadsword/onyx are better
In low sec Devoter/Phobos.

I hope this helps you with this ship class.

As for recons I honestly like them all and think that used well they are all capable of causing havoc for an opposing fleet.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.
