I suck at PvP. This is a fact that I have know for a while. Just look at my pathetic killmails. Never won a battle. So my plan right now it to buy 15-20 merlins/rifters/*insert other frigates* to try and get my PvP skill up. Also plan on getting some friends to start playing so we can have a gang or something.

But all the aside, the reason I am posting, is there anyone with some tips? Am I on the right track with the merlins(my first choice) or should I consider other frigates/cruisers(no bc or bs, not flying those until I 5 all relevant skills toward them)? Any good fits you can provide(I search battle clinic a lot but can't tell what ones would be good for me).

I've start to read the guides and what not so don't link that sh*t. Thanks for reading.

Krist is right you should get into RvB or FW. If you are really new to pvp I suggest Factional Warfare. Nullsec is not a nice place to learn to pvp. Low sec is much more forgiving (no bubbles). Also checkout battleclinic for ship fittings

Fights are only good in null, get a few buddies frigate up and go hunting, then laugh like a madman when a Goon camp 1 jump into null blaps you.

I always do. And I'll look into those corps.

If all you can fly is T1 ships and you want to learn the very basics of pvp than you should join RvB.

RvB, FW, Null, T1 frigs...meh...doesn't really matter.

The best way to "learn" PvP other than being a lemming for others KB's (i.e. the 20 T1 frig routine with no one to guide you) is to find a corp (doesn't really matter where - FW, RvB, null-sec)...and fly with others that are willing to teach you. Each of the above listed offer their own "good and bad".

T1 frigs flying solo offer very little room for error for someone new to PvP. Imho, you are better off flying with others (ship types don't really matter - what you can afford) until you get the basics down and gain more experience/confidence.

This sounds like incredibly good advice; at least if you're with a more experienced PvPer you have someone who can say "this is why you died", rather than possible confusion that could arise.

RvB......... request a ton of solo fights (to avoid the inevitable blob), or let it be known that you are hanging out in their FFA zone (free for all).

Merlins are a great frigate, especially so after the recent changes.

You should consider dual web fits with T2 ammo, ASB fits, Rail (armour) fits and also tracking disruptor fits (Merlin has 4 mids, which are great for ewar).

If you are blaster fit then I'd highly suggest getting T2 guns as they really come into their own with the Null (range) and Void (dps) ammo types.

After that the Harpy and Enyo make great ships to move into, both being blasters.

Rifters are harder to fly nowadays and it has been (or at least it was when i was there a short while ago) generally accepted that they really need a Neut to be effective, however with a Neut they are effective in almost any pilots hand (hold range, use falloff, use Neut, then close when their cap has gone - not effective against other Rifters).

Your idea to get 15-20 ships fitted is bar far the best bet. Personally I'd stick to one or two ship types and fittings and would maybe split between T1 and T2 fittings (unless the ISK doesnt bother you).

Word of warning, if you are getting into PvP, then you really really want to get your support skills up..... and that is applicable to any and all weapons, cap, mech, engineering.
