What's it Like With Your Main in FW?

What's life like playing in FW? I am not talking about having a farming alt in one of the militas, but what's life like as a main character? What's PvP like in FW? Is it frequent?

Currently I live in NPC 0.0, and am curious what FW is like compared to it.

Tears. A fight here. Tears. A gank. Tears. Blob. Tears. Oh, and more tears.

Caldari tears are the easiest to harvest. They produce quite a bit.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

He trolls but there is truth to this troll.

For me, I don't limit myself to just the typical FW activities like plex fights or fighting WTs. I like to do exploration or wormholing when I can. I find that fighting the same people over and over again can actually r.etard your growth as a combat pilot. It's gotten to the point where I know if I see a certain WT in system, then his gangmates are one system out. I know what fittings a certain pilot flies. I know who is gonna smack like a tard in local. I know who is going to complain when we kill him. When it gets to that point, then I know I need to go roam outside of the warzone and into nullsec or other parts of lowsec.

Don't get me wrong; the fights are aplenty. But because of the small size of the FW community, people have to regularly stretch their pvp muscles by going outside of the 'theatre". I think that's where alot of people get bored with FW PVP because they forget there are tons of people to fight outside of it.

High Five. Yeah! C'est La Eve .

Main in FW is totally the way to go. Which is obviously why i'm posting on the alt.

It is fun though. I've been in FW for over 3 years now. Had its ups and downs but i still find it more enjoyable than 0.0 and high sec.

It's a ton of fun. Everything I do is based around my FW "mains". I get fights every time I log on. Sometimes we blob, sometimes they blob, sometimes it is even, sometimes we run, sometimes they run, etc. The PVP used to be stale fighting the same people over and over again, but since Inferno there are tons of new people to shoot. There is ALWAYS something to shoot. When I dont get fights, it is almost always my fault for not roaming far enough or not willing to take a fight highly stacked against me.

Almost all of my isk comes from living in lowsec. Currently this is mostly running FW plexs, but I also do PI, exploration, and WH's every once in a while. I do have a bunch of highsec only alts for things like invention, research POS, freighter alt, JF alt, etc. Having highsec logistics is very critical especially as your FW mains will rapidly approach -10, but if you don't have your own you can use Red Frog/Black Frog or rely on corpmates.

The most fun I have had in Eve has been in FW. This is followed closely by living in NPC 0.0 (Syndicate). I find FW much more fun just for the fact that there are no bubbles and FW lowsec is much more populated. If you think about FW as just being a lowsec pirate who also happens to do FW, who also can roam 0.0, who can also do WHs, it really is a no brainer to join. The only negative is that you lose access to half of highsec, but if you are a lowsec pirate you cannot go to highsec anyway so there really isn't anything to lose.

I think its the best small scale pvp eve has to offer. If they ended faction war I would unsub.

There was a crazy amount of fights in plexes right after inferno. 4-7 fights per 2 hours. But now that is dying down. How much its dying down is still unclear. But last few times I roamed on the amarr minmatar front I get the feeling fighting is pretty close to pre inferno times. However I think with the changes hans proposes the fighting will pick up again. Assuming ccp implements them.

Not sure about caldari gallente space.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815

It's an absolute blast.

Big fights with little ships
Little fights with big ships
Little fights with little ships
Big fights with big ships

Maneuvers, escapes, near-escapes, sometimes we catch them, sometimes they catch us, sometime no one catches anyone.

But the most important thing is:
there is a steady stream of exploded ships on both sides.

As a new player this is why i don't want to have anything to do with Faction war. Oh and that craziness with negative faction standings even if I fix security status? Grinding my limited game time away to fix that stuff? No thx.

It could be something as simple as an alt on the same account that's trained to only fly a Bestower or whatever. I use mine to make my purchases and then have Black Frog take them out to me once I've gathered them in one location. Piece of cake.

Negative faction standings can be easily overcome, as well. Just find a player corp willing to take you in and as you run plexes for that side, your standings with them will increase.

That's what I was hoping to hear, and what has me so close to pulling the trigger on moving. NPC 0.0 is fun and all, but small scale pvp is almost non-existent . Most my solo fights involve me engaging a guy, not being able to do enough DPS to kill before 10+ man back-up gang arrives, me disengaging and running away. The first few times it was exciting getting away from large fleets as a solo man/small gang, but now I am tired of it. I want more fights without a massive back-up gang waiting, I am tired of bait drakes.

Large fleets were fun when I was new, but are losing their appeal. It's not fun when you have an FC making all your decisions for you. I prefer engagements where each person's skill (or lack of) matters in the outcome of the fight. In blob fleets you really don't matter, just one more set of guns out of many. It sounds what I am looking for may be in FW

This does kind of concern me. Although I do have a high-sec logistics team backing up my main, I like my positive sec status =p I wouldn't mind the negative faction standing with one faction, but -10 sec status would not be something I would want. Although I don't really go into high-sec that often except to sit in station with expensive implants.

Thanks everyone for your responses in this thread, it has given me a lot to think about. I am seriously considering joining FW. Only thing stopping me at the moment is my corp. I like the guys I fly with and have been flying with them nearly since I started. I know I can't expect them to drop everything they're doing and join FW with me, I would have to leave.

This made me laugh because its so true. So many thrashers, all the time.

FW is a lot a fun, tons of fights, blobs here and there. If I get bored in the minnie/amarr wz, i fly up to gal/squid area to fight some fights. Ive been having a ton of fun in the 9 months ive been here.

This bait + backup happens a lot in FW, BUT the trick to avoiding them is plexes. This is why

a) You can get in a dessie, go into a minor - right there generally half the enemy gang cannot enter.
b) If there is one wt in your plex, and the enemy backup is in an adjacent system this is what they need to do:
i) Jump gate, warp to plex
ii) Land on gate, activate gate (another warp)
iii) Land from activate gate warp, burn to you

iii) is very important - there is no warping allowed inside of plexes (you can warp to say a gate from within a plex, but you cannot warp to a fleet member 150km away in a plex). This means if you suspect the enemy has a lot of backup - burn behind the button say 30-40km. That means when local starts spiking, iii) means a 100km burn for the enemy gang under their own power.

And when local starts spiking, start burning AWAY from the warpin point. You can usually add another 50km to the enemy to have to catch up to you doing so.

By all means then, stay in RvB. RvB can be a lot of fun, but I think more people get tired of it much more quickly. I have been doing FW for 3 years straight and it really has never stopped being fun. The negative faction standing will also happen if you run highsec missions long enough, it really isn't any different. As far as security status goes, you can always rat it up if you need to.
The other important thing is that you NEVER want to use your pirate main as a highsec freighter/hauler pilot anyway. You will just have too many people with killrights on you. It doesn't take that long to train an industrial hauler and not that much more for a freighter alt. To top it all off, Red Frog is very cheap and will save you tons of time if you can plan a day or two in advance.

The main point I was trying to make is that there is no difference between being a lowsec pirate and FW. You can do both at the same time which greatly increases the number of targets you have available.

FW is the most fun I've had in any of my EVE experiences. It is slow at times, and it is blazing fast at times. Kind of just depends what you make of it.

Certainly has the potential to be the best/most-frequent:
Solo PVP Environment
Small Gang (1-15)
Medium Gang (15-50)

You don't really see any triple-digit #s, at least in the Min/Amarr WZ except once in a blue moon. I hear it is more frequent to get really large-scale fights in the Cal/Gal WZ since they also have groups like Shadow Cartel., Rooks and Kings, and some other pirate corp/alliances in the area.

FW can be fun but depending on what you like to fly it may or may not be fun. If you like to fly mostly frigates and destroyers then you'll probably enjoy it and find plenty of fights. Battlecruisers and up...not so much.

I don't know about null but I'm pretty sure there is a much larger percentage of cov-ops ships in FW low sec. Meaning don't expect to catch many people on gates.

It's okay. It depends on how skilled a PvP pilot you are. I started playing FW as a complete noob to the game and its had it good and bad points.

I haven't really have the time or the opportunity to join a lot of large fleets so if you aren't skilled at solo/small gang PvP then you will die a lot (like a lot!) or be restricted to plexing. That can be pretty repetetive and boring unless you like watching timers and spamming the 'warp to' button.

The best bit is that, for the most part, the people who play FW are welcoming and really friendly (so joining a good corp or alliance helps).

I'm not sure why so many people have a -10 security status unless they are consistently agressing neutrals (attacking an opposing faction member does not affect your status). Yes your faction standings will plummet with the opposing side but you should still have access to your militia's high-sec. I have no problems in Amarr/Caldari space for example.

By the way, anyone who says you don't need the skills to fight in FW is either a) really skilled or b) in a corp with a ship replacement program. Just saying.
