I don't think the minmatar logo i copyrighted, and it looks a little different.

You don't need to register a copyright to own it

Saying you own it is not enough, take the smiley where the owner never applied for trademark or copyright, which means everyone can freely use it.

I guess Eve as a product, has some legal protection for it's original artwork.

LOL - Where the hell did you get that information?

1) You DO NOT need to register copyright for ownership. Only if you intend to litigate, but even then it is not necessary to show infringement. Especially in case such as this where it is obvious who the IP holder is. Rotating it or flipping it does not protect you.

2) What makes you think the Logo is not already copyrighted by CCP? I can guarantee you all sub-work withint the EVE IP is also protected.

Hope this site is not yours, if CCP decides to litigate your ignorance has an expensive surprise for you.

EU and USA are very strong trade partners and go by very similar copyright laws. Iceland is not part of the EU, but it IS a part of the Berne treaty and some other trade agreements that govern copyright and trade.

You own the copyright to any original work you create, which may or may not apply to the in-game logos, at least some of them seem heavily inspired from existing art work, e.g. the gallente shield, and you can find a lot of nautilus logo's that share a lot of characteristics with the minmatar logo.

Look. I just let you know something you didn't. I wasn't oppositional, I just told you, and I told the OP the contact mails. To be nice. First you argue (wrongly) and now you just change your argument to something else, for the sake of arguing.

~May or may not~ Gods above

P.S. The "original work" part is wrong, too

You help is much appreciated, next time i have any questions i'll ask you, Google and Wikipedia seem to have all the wrong answers.

Good to hear! Teachers stress to not use wiki as the information is open source and may not always be accurate.

The page seems to be about an Estonian IT company, that sell, maintains and repairs computers and also sells programming, web and graphic design services.

The smiley face (that yellow smiley that was everywhere on buttons and posters and underwear years ago) was never actually registered as a trademark by its original creator; while he can freely tell people that he made it, he's not entitled to royalties from its use and he can't sue to stop someone from using it (it's in the public domain).

Incidentally, what's been said here already bears repeating: you don't have to register a trademark for it to be 'your property'. Under current copyright law, an 'original work' (ie, a drawing or a painting) is automatically protected from the date of its creation, to a certain degree.

Obvious rip off.

Obviously using someone elses art work without asking permission..

The artwork is protected. The name may "not" be protected, but is obviously used in relation to the image.

I guarantee you the rest of the artwork used on that site has probably been ripped off from someone else as well.
