I mission in a mach and have thought about using a vargur, just not sure if investing all the training time is worth it if I don't end up enjoying flying the ship. I have no interest in capital ships on this toon so BS 5 is not something I need to train. Thanks,

Vargur is more worth it if you don't have BS 5 on both racial supports, you're actually hurting yourself because then you aren't taking full advantage of the machariel. Vargur is actually more worthwhile for level fours than the machariel is, due to the bonuses and so forth, and the hefty shield tank.

To directly answer your question, you get two million free skillpoints by attending masstests when they are announced and scheduled, but I can tell you outright that given similar fits, Vargurs and Machariels will perform exactly the same way, the only exception is that the Vargur doesn't have the speed capability the Mach does.
