Through re-introducing drone poo, and modification to the salvaging system, it would be possible to remove mining from the game completely.
Ships destroyed in PvP could be salvaged for materials equal or greater to that which is required to build the destroyed ship, thus keeping the flow of minerals positive over the number of ships destroyed.

No more need for mining at all. Exhumers and barges and the mining lasers could be relegated to collectibles or just removed from the database completely, purging Eve from what is clearly viewed as a serious game mechanic flaw.

You do know that there are quite a few people who actually, you know, enjoy mining?

Many of these people have multiple accounts.

I don't think CCP is willing to sacrifice the profits from these people to fulfill your PvP arena EVE vision.

Oh I know there are. Mining is my primary activity, however the reality of it is, is that this is what the PvP crowd wants.
There are plenty of threads on the forum wherein "experts" diagnose the enjoyment of mining and such as a mental disorder, stopping only there because their suggested cure would be a violation of forum rules.

Eve is a sandbox. You can play it any way you want, so long as it is how the PvP crowd wants you to play. If you are not willing to be forced to play how they think you should, they are quite happy to tell you where WoW is.

Good grief, learn your place. Roll

9 years of blowing them up hasn't made them quit so I doubt they will be quiting now.

The post I was responding to was describing how mining could be removed from the game.

Somehow, I think that would make the miners all quit.

Pretty sure this isn't actually possible.

Inferno 1.3: Asteroids have gained sentience and are now armed with mining lasers! As you mine them, they mine you!

EDIT: Observation, the vocal portion of the forums seem to be the die hard PvPers. Anything except PvP or that makes their PvP require skill and/or a working brain is an ungodly abomination that must be purged with fire.

Such as, but not limited to: Highsec and Miners.

EvE is a sandbox my friends, to each their own. Just stop trying to shove your play style down my throat, it's getting worse than religion.

I've just yet to understand the hostility in this game.
I mean don't get me wrong, its absolutely hilarious.
but its just like, goddamn, it seems too extensive...
some people are putting entirely too much effort into ensuring that somebody else is not having more fun than they are.

Rules don't make things better, they just make busybodies and bullies feel like they are in control.

If you want to make hisec better, remove Concord, and let the players develop their own protective agencies and schemes.

I think this 'requiring miners to thank gankers' is catching on.

Just this morning, 11 Mackinaws/pods simultaneously vaporized by with my -10 Typhoon. 3.25 billion in damage.

Doing something over and over again does not always make you good at what you are doing.
I keep flapping my arms for 2 hours a day, I'm still not an expert in flight, nor should I write about it.

It is kind of like how killing mining ships with combat ships does not necessarily mean you are good at PVP.

Isn't repetition yet expecting different outcomes the definition of insanity?
Could be wrong, its been ages since I went to school and they aren't all that good anyways.

Poor james.

He is obsessed with miners.

How sad.

I take it james has absolutely nothing new to say?

Can't be bothered to read his attention seeking posts.

can we unban the bots please? bored of having to spend a larger time doing boring things (making isk) to do fun stuff (blowing ships up and having ships blown up)

fill high sec with miners so i can throw away ship, after ship, after ship and enjoy the game more.

I think what a lot of PvPers fail to realize is that their ships come from somewhere. They aren't magical gifts from the Ship gods. They're made by.....

Miners

Shock. Horror.

So let the miners mine where they want to mine, and you guys keep blowing each other up. They make money, and you get shiny killmails.

1) Because of your Manifestos encouraging destruction of innocent miners enjoying their hobby after a hard days work, we now have on average 10 thousand players less in the game then 2 years ago.

2) I see you like hisec Miners very much now because they pay you to not bump them with your silly little bumping business (You play Eve for the sake of your "Bumping Business" ? Roll )

3) Your post tl;dr but have read your same-old-rehashed ideas before.

Part 1 is spot on.

Part 2 would work for, oh *looks at watch* as long as it takes people to realize there are no longer consequences for their actions. Then the entire game would essentially become the equivalent of Prypiat without the fuzzy glow. People cannot police themselves, they aren't capable of behaving civilized when there is no one looking over their shoulders or threatening punishment.

And so far Christians are the ones being tortured, killed, prosecuted everywhere and missioneers kidnapped and eventually (expecially South America) killed because they support the local tribes against the big holders. That's some good shoving they do.

James was kind enough to post a fairly respectful response to my R-E-S-P-E-C-T thread, so I’ll return the favour.

James 315 wrote:
-- Miners should avoid anything associated with the unhealthy lifestyle of botting. This means not only disabling their EULA-violating macros, but also unseemly practices like AFK mining and excessive mining.

I actually agree with this up to, but not including ‘excessive mining.’ Excessive mining is unqualified. Some people would probably consider one unit of ore mined in high sec as ‘excessive.’

James 315 wrote:
-- Since suicide gankers and can-flippers are a valued part of the fabric of our society, miners should treat them with respect, congratulating gankers on a successful kill.

Again, I actually agree with this, up to a point. While I don’t desire to fall victim to their depredations, gankers and can-flippers are a valid aspect of play in Eve Online (kind of like High Sec mining). And while I agree that player should treat each other with respect (today’s enemy can be tomorrow’s friend), I will never congratulate someone for ganking my ship. After all it’s not like it’s hard to do, or takes a lot of skill. It’s like kicking a four year old. Sure it’s easy, and you get a good laugh, but the police will beat you senseless. :P

James 315 wrote:
-- Miners should know their place. Like algae, they are at the bottom of the food-chain. I'm always amazed how, despite surrendering their dignity to highsec ice mining, carebears can nevertheless exhibit the most absurd level of ego and hubris.

Ego and hubris? Hmm…pot and kettle anyone?

James 315 wrote:
-- Petitioning of non-miners is a serious offense. Not only does it waste GMs' time, it also displays hypocrisy: The problem facing highsec is botters, not bumpers or gankers.

Who would petition CCP because of a gank? HTFU and move on.

James 315 wrote:
-- No whining or advocating pro-miner changes to the game. I think we've had our fill of this. I'd like to see miners seriously contemplate the virtue of making the game more difficult for miners, e.g. by nerfing Concord.

This is too subjective. There is a difference between pro-miner (making high sec mining easier) and pro-miner (making high sec mining better). It’s a subtle but important distinction. As an example, advocating the ‘Death Ray’ a.k.a. insta-pop gankers is bad. Advocating a mechanic change that makes mining more fun/engaging, is good.
