Think this thread proves the fact that 50% of the folks here are complete m0r0ns who will even make fun of a dead 18 year old kid..

R.I.P ....at least i would imagine he died enjoying a game .. HE died doing what he does best ..

If Empathy makes one look weak, the id rather be weak....

Lack of water wasn't it. Food wasn't it either, you can be a lot more days without food. Not moving for 40 hours? Come on! If you haven't stay in bed longer than that during hangover-recovery, you haven't party hard enough.

And no I don't think it was the tears. Had he been playing EVE, maybe... but he wasn't so, no.

Not everyone is the same.

I used to go to all weekend parties, didn't sleep during them. Also used to play MMOs sessions lasting over 2 days. Could not do either of those things these days. Longest gaming sessions for me these days are around 20 hours partly because MMOs don't have the same pull they used to have and partly because I've got a bit older.

But playing MMOs whilst you're very tired because you're addicted to them must put extra strain on the body (the addiction part is usually what's next or I'll just do this or I really want that item to drop) . So although the 40 hours is unlikely to be the cause of the death it was more than likely a contributing factor.

I've heard of this before. People somehow become oblivious to self-preservation and die. It must occur in the combination of lack of sleep, otherwise its hard to imagine how you could forget to drink and eat, but it happens.

Is it insensitive to want to dig him up, then slap the hell out of him?

I save my empathy for the deserving. I.E. people in situations that they had little to no control of. I wont feel bad for a grown man who s**t his pants just as much as I wont for one who doesnt have the common sense to make a sandwich.

You don't actually know what empathy is do you, it's okay, we understand and can feel compassion for you.

Empathy does not require a value judgement for us to at least try and understand another human being, it neither condones of glorifies that person.

As said previously the most likely cause of death was DVT, this does not take 40 hours to develop, otherwise the Airlines would not have to put measures in place to alleviate the problem.

It just so happens that in this case the person was playing a computer game when they developed the problem, that does not make them any less worthy of our compassion or sympathy.

A witty comment goes here.
